Kenwood HU rejecting CD's?????? - TriStateTuners.com :: Home of Tristate Auto Enthusiast

I don't know much about audio, but figured i'd ask here. There may be a solution, or there might not.

So I have only had the HU for about 3 years I guess. It's a Kenwood detachable face, flip down HU.

this one..

so anyway...never had a problem with it. The other day I got up and went to the gym before work, it was fine. When I came out of the gym, i turned my car on and put it on CD mode...it gave me a CD read error. I opened it, and then put the cd back in...it spit it out. I put another CD in, and it spit it out.

Ever since that day, it will not accept a CD..it makes a low noise for a second, then spits it out. I checked all wires, i unhooked my battery to try to reset it or something..nothing is working.

so...is there any reason at all, that all of a sudden it would start rejecting CD's? and is there anything that might fix this?

take your plate off and look for a reset button. many head units have a battery in there that keeps the memory or information stored when its not receiving power. just grab a pen or a paper clip and give that a try

haha i disconnected the battery to try to "reset"...my dumb ass never even thought there would be a reset button.

If the fix is really that simple..i owe you a beer dude.

haha sure man. it worked for 2 head units but didnt do a damn thing for my latest one. If that doesnt work, give the company a call (although, i think, if im not mistaken, kenwoods customer service blows), it could easily be an internal problem.

lol maby you should try a diff genera of music. clearly your HU is not in agreement

lol ur a def a newbie....i am probably one of the most diverse people in the world when it comes to music. I assure you my taste in music has nothing to do with the issue.

I'll run out on my lunch break and see if there is a "reset" button...otherwise, i guess i'm stuck listening to the radio until i get a new HU.
