Not trying to start an argument and I have never touched weed in my life and don't plan on it, but I can almost guarantee that in our lifetimes, marijuana will be legalized.

awesome I've done at least one debate and one thesis paper on just that since high school. used to be a bit of a stoner, now not so often.
couple years ago I was arrested for growing a couple of pot plants in my basement for personal consumption (never sold), couple as in 4, not 20 or thirty or more. I was charged with nine felonies. For my arrest police in full tactical gear raided my house. Upon getting a call at work whats going on i finish up my day and head to the house. about four hours later when I got home there were still 8 police officers still in full tactical gear. They had kicked in every door in the house to find, while the rooms were messy, they were filled with my roommates, four full time college students, most working full time jobs to pay tuition and all planning to attend either law school or med school. Needless to say, we weren't what the cops expected. Then from out and upstairs comes a team of cops carrying my plants and paraphanelia up. At this moment the cops, myself, my roommates all look around at one another and just laugh uncontrolably because of the way it was handled. unsecured bail set, do some research, decide to defend myself instead of wasting my money or having to let my parents know what happened. i'm sentenced to nine months in a drug treatment program, which consisted of random drug tests screened by private lab, classes tought, building used. and in the end, nine months later, all charges were dropped, clean record. My point is while I grew a little bit of pot to relax after spending hours commuting hours a day for work and school. their answer was to pay at least 8 officers (overtime?) court costs which totalled me one hunderd dollars if i recall correctly. the Random drug tests and classes cost money, but not to me directly, only through my taxes, same taxes you spend. upon completion of the program I was even awarded a fancy embossed diploma doing so well we, and i do mean we spent thousands and thousands of dollars on my case, to put me in jail? Then we pay to keep me in jail. Really when do u win. I walked away unscathed from the endeavor clean record, and the story has helped with college transfer student admissions. sorry about the rant, i just see that side and i see the economy and how high taxes are because of jerks like me. legalization doesn't have to happen immediately, but with decriminalization we give the government the right to TAX MARIJUANA as any other PRODUCT. i'm tired, end rant, sorry for filling screen with ambien fueled thoughts |

great movie. i just got it and watched it. the dvd is out for sale everywhere, ( i found out about it when i saw it in best buy) but i downloaded the torrent from piratebay . org. since im broke. (using utorrent)
anyway, i def recommend everyone watch this movie and even show it to others. i think legalization would drastically change the world we live in (for the better). so many factors come into play http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4999...VDRip.XviD-aAF |

fo sho! Too bad I didn't have to watch videos or read **** online to come up with that one... 70% of people that I know that started with weed, in x amount of time tried different kind of drugs... Then, it really depends how influential people are...
In my post what I was trying to say is, that even though in most cases people get away with casual smoking, there will be many people that might not be as lucky...

sorry, have to agree with Frosti here. Weed has been villainized in the US because it threatens the success of many of the established major industries, primarily healthcare and pharmeceuticals, tobacco and alcohol, and textiles.
Weed is no more of a gateway drug than cigarettes or alcohol, which are both legal and supported by US government. In fact, weed is less of a gateway drug since it is not addictive, like cigarettes and alcohol. AND, weed does not kill -- like cigarettes and alcohol. You would be hard-pressed (if not impossible)to find someone who starts smoking pot without ever having tried cigarettes or alcohol. So yeah, the gateway drug theory is complete BS. Simply because most heroin addicts tried weed first does not mean that weed smoking leads to heroin. If your crack-head friends started smoking weed and moved onto crack, thats because they are crack-heads, not because of weed. I could name just as many people who smoke weed daily and never ever tried hard drugs and never would. Its about personality types, not weed being a gateway. If anything, prescription painkillers like Percocets and Oxycontins lead to Heroin/hard drug use, but doctors offices and the streets are flooded with prescription drugs.... Its a good, informative movie from a predominantly unbiased point of view. And back to the gateway theory - if theres one thing that we should have learned by now, its that kids will find any way to get high... whether its cough medicine, inhaling Dust-off, drinking mouthwash, etc... Are these all gateway drugs too then (and thus should be illegal)? I'd 10x rather have my kid experimenting and using marijuana than inhaling dustoff or swallowing a dozen Sudafed pills. And why is it acceptable that alcohol is legal, so you can go get ridiculously rip-roaring drunk, to the point that you can't even stand up, let alone make good decisions, get violent, angry, confrontational, etc.... Alcohol is just about the worst plague on society right now... so really, until we make alcohol illegal, it is absolute bull that pot is. Pot is illegal for every reason accept the logical ones. |

also, as it was described in the video....
since weed is illegal, we cant just go out and buy it from the store. it is only sold by some of the same people who sell hard drugs as well. so ofcourse, the drug dealer may try to sell something other than weed to his/her customers. so actually, the biggest reason weed could be called a gateway drug is because of its illegality. if we didnt have to buy it from shady illegal drug dealers, we wouldnt have other drugs shoved in our faces in the first place. prohibition does nothing but harm, in every aspect. |

Very informing movie. Led me to research Joe Rogan a bit, and he is a very smart and enlightened person. You will probably not believe that since he is "the fear factor guy".

haha yea. it takes a lot of balls for a famous person to actually cut the BS and stand up for what he/she thinks. i have a feeling that most put on a fake anti-marijuana stance out of fear of scrutiny.
