I Hate Bench Racers

Ok. Sorry for this rant but I hate bench racers. I went to go help my friend out moving some furniture in with her roomate. Her roomate is a guy with a MazdaSpeed 3 wagon. He has mods done to it and everything. I have an '02 Mustang GT with just really minor bolt-ons. Anyways I go for a cruise with this one girl and someone else. He asks if I wanted to try going somewhere and make a quick run. Alright he beats me whatever. I know no street racing. This is besides the point. Anyways I knew my car was slow, I had about 1k lbs on him. So when we get back to the place he asks what my other car is. I'm like a camaro with a 350 (built). Said it goes 11.60s. So then he asks what I think his goes. I'm like low 13s if you get traction. He's like actually no it goes 11s right now without tune. I'm like that's hard to believe. Hes like a lot of people do. I'm like ok whatever, and then he tries to keep telling me it does without actually ever going to the track. So next year I plan on going to a friday night at Maple Grove somewhere and shutting him up with my camaro which I'm sure he will still think he can take.

Basically the point of this thread is that I'm sick of people saying what their car actually goes without knowing what it really does. Just because you have certain mods doesn't mean it'll actually go that compared to what other people have done.

If someone asks me, I always say "other cars with similar mods have gone ______" or "it should go ______ if I can drive it right"...I don't think that makes me a bench racer.

So what your saying is people cant guesstimate ET's based off their mods on there car. I am going to have to disagree to Some Point.....I believe its dumb for someone to claim outlandish numbers without backing it up, but many people can base 1/4 mile times off of mods on their car....Weather or not they are going to run close to them is up to the driver....But if i have 3 turbo scion tcs with the same exact kits on them similar tunes....you better believe they are going to run similar times depending on driver error etc...

So to some extent i hear what your saying and it is kinda of gay, but on the other hand with so many similar setups people are running its not out of the question to base times off of mods....

But it does get annoying and at some point you gotta shut up and put down the time hahaha

I know what you are saying and understand that. But I'm a person where you have to put down the numbers before you start talking. Especially talking **** thinking you can beat a car you haven't raced.

I guess I didn't make this thread clear enough, but I meant more with people that talk **** and act like they know what they are talking about before proving it.

^^ ya thats why I was saying i hear you on that, it gets to be like i can bench more than you but you never throw up the weights so its lame.....

So i guess it comes down to the person claiming with their attitude, knowledge, etc

Dude, don't start me. You are my friend and all but your bike is SLOW, I'm not the only one that thinks so. It CAN do 14.6 in the quarter...if you can ride it right, which I don't think you can...sorry?

Reminds me of this kid I went to high school with, whatever you have or you've done his was bigger, louder, and faster. I remember one time he was telling us about his 5 second, (yes I said 5 second), '69 Dodge Charger, no cage, back-half, s/c, NOS, or anything, just a high-comp original 426 with matching 4spd. Like some kid in school could even afford that car! Needless to say, we never saw the car or a single time slip. Some people just bull-sh*t like they breath. Using a 1/4 mile HP calc, the 3180lb wagon would have to put down approx 470 HP @ the wheel, and 550 HP @ the flywheel to turn an 11 flat 1/4 mile run.

Bench racing is honestly not that bothersom to me if the person is atleast intelligent. Sounds like this kid is as dumb as a brick. That is the kind of person that I just laugh at and then walk away as they are bull ****ting me on their car.

hahah dont feel bad i had some kid tell me he buick lesabre does 8.0's in the 1/4 mile this passed friday while i was aprtying in kent.. i looked at him and called him out on it and he wouldnt jsut admit he lied.

for example. this ****ING NUTSACK at work told me he drifts his celica. i say, oh yea did u do a RWD conversion??? he says uhh yeaa i OWN A GARAGE, they did it. so im all hype, because at the time, i just got back from the reading drift camp, and saw the rwd integra. i go outside on break to check this beast out. ALL STOCK. i look underneath, just all stock, fwd. i call the kid out like yo man this thing isnt rwd lol and then he claims ooohh oops thats my other celica which is a 'gt' they look the same and i forgot which one i drove to work. not to mention he claimed he was at the reading drift camp that i was at. ****ing liar.

some people just need to get beat the **** down. maybe get some sense knocked towards em in the process
