Piston Carnage

This is out of 180sxdrifters DSM, Ross piston, Eagle rod. The dipstick blew out and lost all oil. This is the end result.

That almost looks like an improperly gapped ring? Oiling a motor out would wipe rod/main bearings out and cause a seizure there first...

He had the motor built at a shop, and since day one it burnt oil.

That looks to me like too much timing advance... If it were an oiling issue, you wouldnt see a whole in the top side of the piston, You would see the rings melted flush with the skirt. If it were a LEAN issue, you would see a whole burned into the top of the piston.

My piston rings were gapped too large at .035 instead of the usual .019....It obviously burned mass amounts of oil and blew the dipstick out all the time, but took its beatings like a champ untill the day I put it down

Looks and sounds to me like the engine wasn't built OR tuned right. That piston has detonation written all over it.

Yea that motor burnt through a case of oil in a week, I was tired of putting oil in it everyday and I was planning on rebuilding it for my new turbo setup. That night I was running a stock ecu & the dipstick blew out on the blvd and I just kept racing down rt1 untill there was no oil left. I felt it was time to put that motor to rest so I wanted to put it down while having some fun at the same time, some huge flames came out the exhaust haha

thats what my #7 cylinder piston looked like when i blew up my stock motor. 8psi threw a stock motor with 30degrees of timing was a bad idea!
