Spawned by the convo in The General Sex thread, it made me think... I understand why its not discussed openly all the time, but the statistics would indicate that there are a healthy number of pregancies and STD's... everywhere, including people on the forum.

The poll is anonymous, so please feel free to vote truthfully here... I just think it will be interesting to see if people are honest.

my first experience @ 18 had my g/f at the time preggers within a month... thats when she decided to go on birth control... and why i'm pro choice

never had an experience w/ an STD, but then again I'm probably annoyingly selective of whom i graciously stick my member in. I also give the girl a physical before hand and use a rubber. Most of the people i've had sex with I've known well before hand, so I'd trust them, on our friendship, to be honest about having an STD... and again, always use a rubber.

Thanks for the honest response... I think this is good discussion and hopefully some can learn something from it. I added the anonymous poll which touches on a few things, but if you are comfortable with replying to add to the thread then of course feel free.

eh, this happened 7 years ago. we were kids and we made the mistake of thinking it wouldn't happen. It did, she had plans of college and neither of us ,nor our families, would be able to take care of the kid... so we did what was best for the situation. besides... overpopulation of the human race is a serious problem.

I'd also be stuck talking to her still... and i haven't in the past 4 years and I'd like to keep it that way lol

Any ways...thankfully no pregnancies here. I know way too many people who are pregnant, unplanned.

my gf got pregnant in college. I was 20 (junior), she was 18 (freshman), and it was far from planned. We chose to have the baby, and both graduated, with help from family of course. We had our ups and downs over the years, even split up for a while. we grew up and eventually worked things out. Our son is now 7, we have our own house, and we are finally getting around to getting married September 2009. It was the best thing that ever happened to me, because back then I was on a path headed for nowhere but failure. I did a complete 180 like it was nothing and my life has been stellar ever since.

Edit: use condoms all the time now. Until we decide we are ready to have another. And never had an STD.

I've never had an unexpected pregnancy. I've been on birth control for probably 6 years now. We also don't use condoms, but we have been in a monogamous relationship for 7 years and get annual check ups. Never had an std.....or should I say STi? LOL

I get tested 3x a year because there's soo much stuff floating around, and I, being as careful of a planner as I am, would like to stay clean. I have had unprotected sex, twice, with long term boyfriends. I was pregnant in 10th grade, and had a miscarriage, and though it was VERY early.. it was one of the most traumatizing experiences I've ever gone through.. So, yeah, like I've said before, better safe than sorry. I will never have unprotected sex again until I'm married. If I'm ever married. Which I don't think I will be.

you'll get married... eventually you'll find a guy that can bang you good and you won't let him go.

but yeah, i'm with ya on no unprotected sex until marriage. Both of my long term g/f's i've had sex with unprotected... but at the time i thought the relationship would last and any "accidents" could be worked into life's little plan.

Wow, more openness here then I expected, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised since everyone has been so comfortable recently in other threads.

I added an "I am not sexually active" choice to the poll... that is definitely an important option as well.

How about where people go to get tested? There are quite a few free, easy, and discreet places to do it if its something that makes you uncomfortable or you just 'put it off' till later all the time...

What I think a lot of girls don't realize is that most gynos only do routine herpes, HIV/AIDS and now maybe HPV screening.. and there's so much other **** out there.

I'm also disturbed that some girls honestly believe if the penis LOOKS healthy, it must be. "There was no bumps, it must've been fine!" "No weird leakage.." Oh god, the naivety.

i think its easier for chicks with the whole GYN thing going on (so glad i don't have equipment that requires a special doctor)

my ex would also give blood yearly, and they test for stuff every time they receive it and will send something back if there is an issue with the sample.

Usually wrap it up, but my gf is on birth control anyway and she is like a machine with the stuff, its always at the same exact time on everyday and she hasn't missed it once.

Anyone ever get an accidental pregnancy when your girl is on birth control?

I'm kind of shocked (and not shocked at the same time) by how many people voted that they've never been tested for any kind of STD. I would think that with all the of knowledge about the kinds of diseases that are out there, more people would be conscientious about their health.
