EF project?

I found two cars for under 1,000 dollars and I am stuck on which one i should buy so throw me some of your opinions.

1.) 1990's honda EF hatch.75,xxx miles on the body/tranny/engine, never swapped oh and it's an SI model w/ 5spd.

I also found a simmilar deal for a 240sx . It's an s13 coupe 5spd. hi/ milage( 175,xxx ish' but it is in good shape and is a pefect swap cannidate.

NOw i know a good deal about nissans and if I pick up the s13 im gonna set it up as a drift spec /daily driver. But I really lack knolage abot honda's. I dont want to do anything crazy expensive but it would be run a turbo and boost it. and being I think that the EF honda is a pretty good auto X platform. THis is where im stuck auto-x and go with the honda or drift and go with the s13?

That's really all based on personal taste. I think that the S13 has more potential if you were going to swap it and such but it would be more difficult and more expensive in the long run.

The EF is a great little car, and that specific one is a gem with under 100k and all stock. If I were in your position I would probably buy the EF and save up for a boosted B-series swap. It would be relatively affordable and reliable.

On the other hand, the S13 would look better than the EF, be faster, and have the ability to drift. If where you live is close to Englishtown you could always cruise it up to clubloose and learn to drift with it there, off of the streets.

So I'm basically no help lol sorry.

It all depends on what you want....looking at two different cars here you got a FWD Honda that has swap potential, build, turbo OR a RWD also has swap potential, build, turbo....So basically it comes down to what you really want out of the car....Its tough to throw those two different cars out and try to have people pick one for you....

Should start by thinking of different goals you would want, and what you want to acheieve, do with the car after the project is over....This should help you decide what car you want...

Since it sounds like you either want to Drift or auto-X with the car The 240 could give you both unless you welded the rear diff ha... The honda game is fairly inexpensive as far as modding is concerned due to the abundant amount of parts available...although boosting a car should never be on a budget!!! You could swap a b18 into that hatch hondata Bolt ons and a very peppy car build the suspension and have a hell of a fun car... Or you could swap a turbo setup into the 240 and have the same results haha

So it depends on Money, Goals, And what you want to do with the Car

I know that doesnt help much but its tough to throw two diff. cars out there like that and try to have other people tell you what you want....Also therei s a ton of knowledge out there for any vehicle espically hondas so dont let that deter you

I normally would get the 240 but it's just that this EF is in such good shape and the low milage it's really making me tink twice.

You don't need validation from others to pick out which car. Just get what makes you happy.

agreed. its a tough decision since they both are great platforms to start from. it comes down to what the car will be used for.
