CHAOS detailed: The corvette from hell aka Jordan's Z06

I went into this knowing it was gonna be bad, but not THIS bad. The car hasn't been cleaned since March and has been sitting outside in all kinds of weather since then.

First things first... the before shots.

random panels

first step was to spray it down with some cleaners to help and foam it up.

the car was foamed, rinsed, foamed again, and washed by hand with the two bucket method. then we got to claying.

this car destroyed/ate/used/etc 1 and 3/4 clay bars.

heres a shot of my buddy/helper brandon.

the rear end was the worst part. hence all the black soot/unburnt fuel/oil on the clay bar.

the rest of the car felt like sandpaper but generally didnt produce much on the clay.

the car was then washed AGAIN to remove the residue from claying.

and then it was dried and tucked away for the night.

heres a shot of what im up against tomorrow.

:poop:

didnt get too many shots of the rest of the progress because the main goal was to get it done. again, the owner wasnt looking for complete correction, simply making the car look better was what we were after.

heres a quick 50/50 shot

brandon put some wheel sealant on the wheels whilst i continued buffing the car... used ssr2 and an orange pad.

exhaust before

one done

after that we put a coat of wax on it and were pretty much done... did a few small details like cleaning the leaves out of the cowl and such.. either way.. here is the end result... like i said not anywhere near where i wanted it, but significantly better and that is what the owner wanted. oh and it was raining.

Ok...then let me ask you this. Generally speaking, how much should one expect to pay when having a service like this done at say, a detail shop?

Well my car certainly isn't that bad. I would like to have the car washed, claybared, polished and waxed. What are your thoughts?

most shops charge anywhere from 120 to 180 for a FULL detail, now thats engine, wheel wells, trunk, carpets, windows, headliners EVERYTHING! Ive worked at a few shops and seen cars be as much as 250$ sometimes more.

FYI: I have fully detailed atleast 25 to 30 black corvettes in my time and they are NOT FUN! It's pretty much the hardest car to detail next to a jaguar. But everyone has their own opinion.

I would greatly appreciate you looking into places in my area if you can. I know very little on the topic.

So a full detail should run me less than $200 roughly?
