5D+85mmF1.2L for Sports?....Girls Volleyball

5D and 85L aren't the best combo for sports but i tried to make it work haha. It wasnt too bad using the ai servo as long as i was already focused somewhere the action or else i'd miss the shot because the 85L took so long to focus. Heres a couple of them from the game tues

all at f2.8 1/400 and iso 3200 i think

i know the colors off in some, the whole folder just went through a batch that did a quick levels, contrast and noise reduction. they are for the school so i get lazy and let them do all the other editing they want

you seriously had to comment on the girls? get over yourself. nice shots scott. of course the 1D was better suited and maybe a different lens but i think you did well. High ISO performance is its pretty damn good.

i don't like the girls either, only the one blond... i mean aren't the girls the whole reason to shoot "girls" volleyball?
otherwise very clean shots. it would be interesting to have had a little slower of a shutter to get some motion blur in certain shots. might help show the direction of the ball.

no the girls are not the point, the sport is the point. if you want to look at girls, look at a modeling portfolio.

wasn't too worried about how the girls look. i'm friends with a couple of them and being at a lot of the games they are all pretty cool to hang out with. the tight little shorts def make being there more enjoyable.

and thanks matt, the 1d def did better with focus and all that but i like the high iso quality from the 5d. i don't use the burst mode when i shoot so im not really missing anything by not having the 8fps anymore

of course shooting girls is way better than shooting guys, my point was and still is, that the point of the photos is/was not the girls. im a little cranky right now, excuse me lol

I think you'd be happier with the 135 2.0L, tighter crops and a quicker AF motor.

yea i'd be much happier with that lens for these pics. my brother had one before that i used for volleyball and it was great. i only ended up taking pics of the game because i was going anyway to watch my friends and the editor or assistant weren't gonna be there so they just asked me to take some. no big deal

The images still came out decently sharp for ISO 3200. I wouldn't even dare shooting above ISO 800 in mine haha.

Yeah the higher ISO is great on full frame awesomeness camera's
