Who Here is a Fire Fighter?

Just Curious to see how many Fire fighters are on here, thinking of joining a department. something for me to do on the side when i have some down time ill just go to the house and chill and wait for a call to go out. If you guys have any tips or tell me what to expect that be awsome, I am gonna start lifting weights and drink protein shake's I am a light weight and want to put on a few extra pounds lol.

i was a volly for 4 years...carried two of my sisters friends out of a fire..they both didnt make it..then the next week lost a very close friend of mine (fellow fire fighter) in a fire we were all at...decided right there to stop because it wasnt worth it for me...i lost my sense of calm after that...even went down to new orleans after katrina for 3 and a half months as a firefighter. but yea..it all hits you when you lose someone close to you.

But I am sure the exhaust is angled for back pressure to have a faster spool-up for larger size turbochargers @ low RPM

Volly Firefighter here for 6 years. Westampton Twp and Medford Lakes Fire Depts. still love it. currently in school now getting my EMT cert.

passing fire school is not all that hard. if your committed to doing this on the side, you study and you do the practical evaluations the way your suppose to, you'll be fine. its not one of those hardcore schools where you need to be built and do a million pushups and everything. it's good to do to better yourself. just remember when your going into a burning building, your not by yourself, your with a team. when you go to rescue someone, you'll be with a team.

just remember, firefighting is a serious business. people are going to depend on you to answer the call when in need! just also remember in emergency services you are going to deal with death, one way or another. as sherwood has mentioned, you will deal with death either of a loved one (close firefighter you become friends with) or a person who's life you just tried to save, its gonna hit you one way or another, just be cautious.

thanks for the tip, yea I am defintely gonna start lifting weights and what not, because I need to have some meat on my body in order to do certain drills lol. like vehicle extraction's with the Jaw's of life i picked one of those things up before my friend happen's to be a firefighter and he let me try out some of the equipment on the truck that **** was heavy lol. i take it thats a two man job. I cant worry about the fact of what I may come across as a Firefighter. ill do what i gotta do and worry about what i saw and had to save later.

haven't had the "body parts" scattered everywhere. you'll see amputations, decapitations, broken bones, inner organs coming out of lacerations, gunshot wounds, stab wounds, you name it, bitten off tongues and the list goes on.

What's the distance you can live within a Department in order to join, there's a department around the corner from me but they're mostly paid crew. there's only like 1 or 2 people over there that are volly.
