the endless AE86 build.... cage done! pics on page 5

about a year ago my brother and i bought up a 1986 corolla SR-5 hatchback from my roommate (he originally got it with plans of making it a track car but lost interest).

Soon after purchasing it, the car went to JDMwill to have a 20v silvertop motor and a ton of other goodies installed, we now have it back and i figured it was time to start a real member journal (will had one for the car while it was at his shop, but this one will be updated with progress and pictures).

When we got the car is was BONE stock with a carb'd motor full red interior and horrible looking konig wheels! .

the mod list is quickly growing, and we hope to have the car out to meets and events next season!

Its a shame its not a real 86 its a 85 now u need the 86 bumpers but it looks good I got a gts cupe shell I want to get rid of if u want a nuther

not a big fan of the coupes! and were up in the air as far as bumpers... probably jblood or just JDM OE.

i pulled the entire interior out as you can see, except the side panels and door panels, my buddy thats doing the cage will pull the rest of the panels out including the dash (so he can cut it to fit the cage through) while the dash is out its going to be painted black along with the door panels.

as far as the rest of the plastics, they are staying out, the sound deadening is coming out and a fresh coat of pearly white paint will be shot on the cage and the rest of the exposed interior, then a black carpet laid down (probably just the carpet skin) and a panda garage seat like this one with sparco 4pt camlock harness' i have sitting at my house...

Nice to hear your ditching the whole interior. I like the painted bare shell look. I got a 2 door shell lying around the shop and your build is making it hard to resist jumping into another build. Love the direction your car is going, keep it up.

same ones u got just 15" with the 3" lip
