they make software called "tune-tools" that allows you to move files from i-pod to pc and back, it has a lot of cool features, and you can buy it at like a best buy for no more then $20 i believe

I found something called DiskAid that seems to be working but the names of things aren't right. If this doesn't work i'll definitely look into that

I honestly have no idea. I want to keep all the programs and movies that the kid had on it i just want to drop a bunch of his music and add all of mine to the collection.

This program i got let me take things like the music and nes emulator and what not but i can't find the movies or all the the apps on it. If i now sync it with my music, which his has been added to, will i lose all the apps and movies or no? Also how do i check what firmware version i have. I know its already been jailbroken.

there are also settings on i-tunes in prefrences i think, says "atuomatically sync i-pod with i-tunes; you can uncheck that and then you manage your music manually, if that is what you mean

Well with the new 2.0 firmware it no longer has to be jailbroken to get apps on it. I had mine jailbroken but was having problems with it running slower and freezing every now and then. So once 2.0 came out they charged $20 for it but most filesharing programs have it available for download. You can get a ton of apps for free. Next time you plug it into itunes it will tell you what firmware you have. Probably 1.1.4 it is is a jailbroken version. Let me know because 2.0 runs smoother and has a ton of apps.

1st off - If you want the files on the iPod DO NOT plug it into your computer!
- If the previous owner had it set to autosync and to start itunes once the ipod is detected, it will autosync and you'll lose everything.

haha, good question.

Well if you have the iPod plugged in, just go to options and switch to manual sync. Then just to to download.com or something, find a program to remove files from the iPod and you should be good to go.

Or, depending on how many files there are, you can manually delete the ones you don't want to save you the trouble of removing and putting on the ones you want.

Ya there was 4 full length movies and maybe 1000 songs out of 3000 i wanted to keep. There was really only 1 app i absolutely wanted to keep and it seems as though it's staying. That program i listed above let me pull all the movies and songs off the ipod and then load them into the itunes on my pc so they will be staying. The nes emulator i wanted to keep didn't come up on the list of apps it wouldn't let me keep because i wasn't registered to use them so i think i'm good.

I still don't know about which version firmware i have if anyone can tell me how to check.

Haha he has it all covered^. But anything under 2.0 isn;t really worth it anymore because apps are easy to access now.

Ok i have version 2.1.

I did in fact get to keep the NES emulator like i wanted and all the songs and videos. I guess maybe because it wasn't one of the apps downloaded from the app store. But now i have 3 blank spaces on the first screen and 3 icons on the 2nd screen over. How do i move them to all be on the first?

I'd still like to know what's up with that beastly avatar of yours.

ummm, if i remember correctly, you can edit the screen by touching and holding down on any of the icons. Eventually everything will start to wiggle and you can move them around. I haven't had a touch for a few months, so if i'm wrong, someone can correct me.

And the avatar is just a picture i drew of my breast friends, what's wrong with that?
