Top Gear Australia

Has anyone watched any episodes of Top Gear Australia?

I watched the first two episodes tonight and it was pretty bad. They emulated Top Gear in the set and some of the cinematography (although that was still not as good as Top Gear's), but the chemistry was just not there between the hosts. There were a few times during the show where I could tell that one of the hosts genuinely hated one of the others. Not to mention their personalities just sucked. They tried to emulate James, Richard, and Jeremy but failed miserably!

For the first time I fear for Top Gear USA, if that is even still in the works.

I spent a little over a month in Australia a number of years ago and their humor is definitely quite a bit different in a sort of dry and sort of corny way. While I was there I never really got it and now watching Top Gear Australia I still don't get it but I can definitely tell it's their humor when watching the show. I do agree with you that the hosts need to mesh a bit better but when you watch the first season of the original Top Gear they go through the same warming up period so don't lose all hope on these Aussie blokes

The US Top Gear will at least have Adam to carry it while it's just getting started and Tanner is pretty dam good on Supercars Exposed so I think we'll be ok.

When something has foibles and won't handle perfectly, that gives it a particularly human quality as it makes mistakes. That's how we can build a relationship with a car that other people just won't get - Jeremy Clarkson
