what do you think of my project???

i am planning on building a daily/autox/drift car over winter. im will be away until dec15, then i have 30 straight days to complete all the work. i can have all parts shipped to my place ahead of time so its a month straight in the garage wrenching. heres what im thinking (don't be harsh on me):

91-98 240sx with a JDM 2JZ-GTE swap
5spd 1JZ tranny
all swap parts from Tech2Motorsports (crossmembers, driveshaft, wiring, lines, hoses, interfaces, clutch, radiator...ect.... its got it all)
6 point cage
stitch weld frame
seats, harnesses
tein coilovers w/ edfc
1.5 lsd
hks 272's
full 3" turboback
various other parts but thats the main jist of it...

i want to keep it very reliable (ie daily) with 400wheel. according to Shaun at Tech2 this is easily acomplishable with a 2JZ even with keeping the stock turbos and keeping them in sequetial.

i dont want it to be comfortable, quite, or convienient. i want it to be a track car i have to climb into everyday, with a tags and registration !!! i think its gonna be fun, fast, and unique.
i've planned everything out and it looks like the entire project should come out to apx 15k (thank god for student loans).
leme know what you guys think??
(PS. if anyone has a 240sx shell/car IM IN THE MARKET!!! dont care if its auto or 5spd pm me!)

I honestly am sick of the 240, but if you like it, go for it!

Sounds like a good plan. Do you have previous knowledge of swaps to this extent?

Ive done the swap 3 times now.. one in my own personal 240 i sold in july.. if you have any questions about the swap i can help you out.

My swap also was done using the tech2motorsports kit.

as far as the 240 goes i am not sure how strong there rear end is.. sorry i dont really have experience with them. on all three 240's we through in a ford 9 inch (drag cars)

as far as making your 400 horsepower on the 2j i dont know why your bought the cams... they arent necessary.
-greddy bcc(have a few lying around if you want)
-3 inch turbo back exhaust
- and a boost controller set it at roughly 18 psi(ive seen 20 go for a while)

i dont know if your planning on tuning it but that alone shoulld have you 350+ no problem.

but with those cams and a tune.. dont be surprised to be above 400

and if your sending your harness out to them to have them do the splicing ... i hope u sent it already to HOPEFULLY get it in july...maybe june if your lucky..

and i hope u like buying tires.. because this thing will eat them faster than a turbo busa.

400 rwhp on stock twins is easy. This is a good project. I'm not familiar with 240s but I'm not a fan of the flip headlights. Go for the s14(or is it the s15)? Anyways, good luck and looking forward to updates. You can always go for the 1JZ! Higher revving bucket of fun.

what do i think? i think you are trying to jam too much into one car.

pick ONE goal.. be it, daily, auto-x, track, or drift... and go after it... trying to accomplish multiple things with one car is extremely tough.

how much do 1jz and 2jz swaps usually go for? (engine trans ecu harness)

the plan sounds good and those motors seem to be the way to go

ehh the swap kits jsut make it easier... after doing it i wouldve rather just made my own mounts.

minus ecu and harness a 2j swap isnt that bad for jsut the parts...

2j motor - 1300-3000$
r154 tranny - about 400 bucks.
custom drive shaft about 500 bucks

so anywhere from 3 -5 grand...not including everything else you need total swap probibly around 6-7 grand to be complete...

and i also agree with picking what you want it to be.... this could be a roll or drag monster.

all i'd really need to make it a multi purpose car is 2 sets of tires, adjustable susspension, and a boost controller to keep it less petrol hungery on the streets.

i'm not trying to set any scca records or get into D1, i just want it to be real fun, cuz isnt that why we all like fast cars anyway?

start investing in rubber my friend....bpu supras love to eat tires... your a few hundred lbs shy of that boat.. so youll have a fun time. make sure you spend a good hunk of change on suspension and actually ahve it set up with you in the car.. youll thank yourself later..because your going to offset the weight a good amount with that motor.
