It's good if you bring a map or GPS to find alternate route when you find out there is traffic ahead. Truckers talk lessons may be necessary. My parents take a CB radio with them when they go to Georgia every year.

i had one in my truck, i want another one since mine broke. its pretty fun sometimes and could be useful if u want to know where the cops are hiding (truckers let everyone know when they pass one) u will listen to a bunch of hicks with annoying accents talkin about weird stuff.

either way it could be entertaining on a long trip, and the best part about having one is getting the pa speaker hooked up, its pretty fun yellin at bad drivers and mascots dancing on the corner of the road. u can pick one up for about a 100 bucks with an antenna, and if u want, when your done using it you can box it back up and return it to the store and tell them u didnt like it. just dont get a handheld one, they suck.

for what your doing go to radio shack and pick up there 85 dollar one

radio shack has them, if you plan on using this thing more than once id pick up something decent, a big ass whip antenna looks goofy but will also help. theres a store in levittown that specialized in cb's and what not, u should check them out, but radio shack works good too. just dont mess with the truckers too much, they get upset pretty easily when u eff around too much.

I would think they are good to have. Me and DropTopChevy used his parents before on our way down to South Philly and heard some funny ass **** the truckers were all talking about. But they are useful if you know their is any trafic ahead, and to see if their is any way around it (if you don't have gps).

yeah, they're fun. I just bought one like this http://www.claysradioshop.com/cobra29ltd.htm used off my friend. Much better than the walmart cobra I had before, and I can even get the penn state weather report on it. I'd say go for it, I've heard some pretty interesting things on CB's over the past few years I've had one. Just make sure you get a good antenna (buy one online or at a truckstop, stay away from magnet mounts) and mount it as high as you can. My old pickup had a whip antenna mounted on the roof and got a range of 15 miles. Oh yeah, definitely invest in a PA speaker, they're so much fun they should be illegal. Try parking in a grocery store parking lot and speaking to people walking around, lol.
