what kind of excuses have you heard for not racing

we've all got them, those friends with hooked up cars who never seem to want to actually race them.
I'm not talking about street racing here, or ricer excuses for losing a race, I'm talking about reason people give for NOT going to the track with their car.

Some of the more popular excuses I've gotten are:
I want to do cams before I go
Doesn't that do a lot of damage, I'm afraid I'll break something
I need new tires first
My alternator is on the fritz
I'll only get one pass then they'll kick me out for going to fast (my personal fav).

what are some of the excuses you've gotten from people for not tracking their car?

My current ride without slicks is an exercise in futility...slicks without subframes and torque box reinforcement = badnews bears.

So I don't really feel like doing much until that's done...it's so bad I'm seeing a 30mph gain after the 1/8th :D

Mostly I get the 'breaking stuff' excuse from friends or 'I wanna turbo it first'

Whatever happened to having fun getting a baseline?

"Oh I dont have the money to get into the track." This was told to me after I called bs on what a guy said he ran in his srt4 when I had mine. He also told me he was going to smoke me. So I nicely said that I would pay his entrance fee. So his new excuse was his axels were tock and he was worring about breaking them. lol

Im not going to run my car until is completley done. Another one of my favs.

as soon as i start my fc they come up with something, or the guys who don't know what i have and they laugh when they say man that 1.3 non turbo got nothing. then i start it up and then there face changes and one will say
"my nos is not hooked up"
or the famous "my vtec is not kicking in right"
"i don't want to break my rear end"
"i need to get it tuned first"

I love the excuses that come after they already lose personally. Unfortunately, my car isn't scary enough for most people to try and dick out of racing it.

ill admit about the whole axle thing, after puting 255's on my sti (almost unheard of) the 1st thing to go on sti'ss when launching is the right rear axle. Right now i daily drive the sti and usually you hear about axles braking with 400ish whp and stock 225 tires. I have about 350whp and 255's and dont have money to brake an axle as i have to daily drive my sti.

I love the "I don't ahve money for the entrance"

Last I remember, Cecil Co. was all of what, $12? So instead of a 12 pack of beer, run the car for a night?

I reject people for street racing all the time in RI, but that's because I don't street race. End of story.

when i buy my daily driver within the next few weeks im looking to take it to the track and drop that axle. its just right now i cant afford to not have a car to get to work and school and such. Its not the actual "oh **** i broke my axle" its the "oh **** i dont have a car, how am i going to get to work to pay for the car". im looking foward to saying "yea i broke my axle cause i had too much power" haha

I never really heard anyone give me an excuse. I did give someone an excuse before. I told him my my clutch was smoked....which it was. I had it replaced about 3 days later
