Yellow Signs

Hey Bane & Sarge. Here's a "I heard this" question. Yellow signs. There's a very tiny, maybe 8"x6" sign that states "No Thru Traffic" on this one road by my house. People cut through all the time, most likely 'cause this sign is nearly impossible to see. Is this a legitimate sign? Is someone going to be cited for cutting through? The roads you aren't allowed to cut through typically have a an arrow with a slash mark through it saying "No Left Turn from 6-9am and 4-7pm" or something like that. Just curious.

Also, those yellow speed signs for turns and off-ramps. Are those just a "suggested" speed for the off-ramp or turn? Or can you be cited for exceeding that speed? I know typically speed traps aren't setup on turns, but I was just curious.

1.Give me a little more info on the placement and surroundings of the no thru traffic sign. Where is the sign placed? Is it in front of an apartment complex, someones driveway, a business etc. If its private property you could get a §3717 Trespass by motor vehicle if they have signs posted no entrance private property etc.

2.Advisory speed—The recommended speed for vehicles operating on a section of highway based on the highway design, operating characteristics and conditions. When posted, the speed is displayed as a warning sign; that is, either a black-on-yellow or a black-on-orange sign.

§3361 - Driving vehicle at safe speeds

No person shall drive a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual potential hazards then existing, nor at a speed greater than will permit the driver to bring his vehicle to a stop within the assured clear distance ahead...

If you come bombing off an exit ramp with your tires squealing you should full expect to get stopped for a chat. 3361 (driving to fast for conditions) carrys 2 points.

Sure. The sign is located on a regular, 2 lane road, that actually doesn't have a center line (from memory). It's in a residential neighborhood that's nowhere near a business or apartment complex. It's roughly 20' from a driveway entrance on that road. There are a few other roads just like it that are before and after, but none of them have those signs. I'm thinking it's just someone on the street who put it in to scare people? I'll grab a photo next chance I get.

Thanks for the info on the recommended speeds as well. I basically know if my tires lose full contact with the road (chirp, spin, squeak around a turn, etc.), that I am giving an officer the right to make a vehicle stop.

On the one side it's attached to a 25 MPH speed limit sign (IIRC) and on the other side it's on it's own pole I think.
