So apparently in Switzerland, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the biggest and most complex machine ever made, started operation today. Basically it's a hardcore particle accelerator that aims at reproducing the events that theoretically occurred at the time of the 'big bang.'

I tried to keep myself up to date on this kind of stuff, but i barely hear about this on the news and such. This could possibly rewrite a lot of physics books and some people are saying that it could also begin black holes able to destroy the earth.

Thoughts?
