I saw this on the come up the other day. Theres no way this will last in the BMX scene. People already teach themselves how to ride chainless. It was also on Kanye West's blog, he's trying to promote this so i hear. He = fail

I guess this would work out. I don't think it will happen right away, but I could see this happening this in the near future.

I fail to see how they wont stretch or break. And it would still more than likely need some lube to prevent premature wear since its still a moving part.

ummm ex. timing belt vs timing chain. Timing chain you don't change, belt you do...how the **** are they arguing that belts won't stretch and break?! It's just another way for them to make money because now you'll have to change your belt every x couple of years.

i would definetly buy it, wouldnt work too well one a fixed gear bike if u trade braking with knee lock up

whoever said it would stretch or break, get out from under the rock, theres a possibility just like chains breaking, but motorcycles been using belts for a long time, its easier on the engine too.

most harleys use this system also

I'm suprised that it took this long. Bike chains stretch folks. I can definately see a cog drive belt lasting way longer than a chain. Without the vibrations and high rpms of an engine, for example, they cant be compared. I'm sure they can be made stronger too. And yes, quieter. Also, a belt will surely articulate better than a rusty ol' chain(i.e. less "drivetrain" loss). Only issue I can see would be that a belt would be less forgiving to inadequate tension. Verdict for a pedal bike= belt>chain.

Heard about this about a month ago and I had the question of stretch also.

if they run them on motorcycles, pedaling wont be an issue with stretch, no more popped chains ftw, i cant wait for these to go mainstream

That pic in the link is on a fixed gear bike. That rubber must be hella strong because if you skid on a fixed it puts a lot of stress on the chain.
