Was quoted $175 for a mandrel bent cat-back with a magnaflow res. Sound about right?

The Audi goes in the shop tomorrow morning to get a Magnaflow 14815 rear muffler (which I bought seperate), a magnaflow straight through Res., and mandrel bent pipes from the factory cats back. While the dia. of the pipes isnt any larger than stock he tells me (and from what I have read) upgrading to mandrel bent and straight through will yeild me better results than the restrictive Audi factory crimp bent exhaust.

I was just wondeirng if $175 sounded about right for the work described. I tried calling around to a few shops and none of the others would quote me for a system with the OEM Res. removed, they said it was illegal?

Thanks guys.

That's not bad, and mandrel bends will make a difference. Even if you had a 2.5" pipe or so stock, at the bends it could go down to 2" or less because of the crimps in it.

stainless or mild steel? if its mild i think it sounds fair, if its stainless it sounds really cheap. the materials are really expensive for this stuff so there's really no such thing as 'cheap' even though some people think it can be when you go custom.

Yup, Just-Rite. IDK if they have a mandrel bender in house but he told me the pipes would be mandrel bent. Res, the owner is a pretty cool guy.

They may be using pre-bent tube which is fine. The owner is a really nice guy. Does the hot homely chick with the big butt still work up front? Just-Rite is the only place I would go for a full exhaust to be done. He is a perfectionist. He put my borla on and took an extra 30 min because he didn't like how close the hangers were to the frame.

Yeah, Rex rocks. And they don't have an in-house bender, but they use pre-bent pieces.

He did an exhaust for my old 1g Neon R/T in no time, one shot, all by eye. Guy has got some experience behind him.

Didnt see her, just 3 guys who were hanging out in the office. No big butts. I was pretty impressed with how cool all of them were.

Rex had me drive it up on the lift and when he raised it up he started mumbling to himself "Audi A4, pre-facelift, 5-speed, Quattro. Should have two cats, resonator, and suitcase muffler." When the car was up high enough to see under it he goes "Yep, No more than $175."

I was like , hes good.

I ended up talking with him for about a hour. He showed me a huge table of Hydrogen cells he was working on. Said something like they should help regualar cars get 35-40% better fuel mileage.

When I went to leave I had brief second of lifter tick which is a common v6 audi deal and he walked over and said "Ill order 6 qts of Amosol 5w 30 for friday, that should clear the tick right up."

He even turned down a $1000 exhaust job for my V8 Mazda because he wouldnt be able to inspect it for me then. Something about certified inspection stations are not permitted to do any work which would be a violation of factory model EPA regs. Which I understand it would put him in a pickle.

Cause im bored \/

^lol I asked him about the Mazda though. I actually bolted up the tranny and cleaned the engine bay. Everythings all prepped just waiting for a nice day

Sex. Sounds amazing and you cant even tell it has exhaust over 3k. Rex actually came back at $165, $10 under the estimate, first time that ever happened. I was suprised to learn that a amsoil case and filter came out to $100! It did get rid of the lifter tick though. I guess Ill just save myself the money and do my own changes, no matter if it is going in the shop or not.
