camcorder suggestions?

my sony digital 8 camcorder has been broken for years now and im sick of the cell phone vids lol

i was thinking about picking up another camcorder on the cheap. does anyone have experience with the newer smaller cams? id want something that can load vids onto my comp as well as watch on my tv. i dont really know jack about these things anymore. its either get a new one or try to get my old one fixed. not sure which would be the better choice.

my current broken cam is a digital 8 DCR - TRV310 NTSC. i really enjoyed this thing and have a good few tapes full of crap. one day the tape loader jammed and it pretty much wont do anything now. ive never tried to load vids onto a comp with it, just watched on my tv. im not really sure if its capable of it (although i thought thats why it says digital)

anyone know a good place to get these fixed?

throw me some suggestions! and keep in mind im pretty broke right now

heres what i got right now. pretty damn old. i guess with the right wires i could get it to load vids onto my comp...

i think what im trying to find out here is, will i be able to find a newer cheaper smaller camera that will give me everything my current one had? are they really better now or not worth it..?
