Dsm starting problem.

So recently my sisters boyfriend had purchased a Gs, and he turbo'ed it.
The car has had other stuff done too it, and its in need of a tune badly.
First the car ran, Then the next day they came out and it acted like a dead battery, so they put a new one in. Then the car ran even worse, so That lead him too thinking The ECU dumped the tune,.. But it shouldnt have right?
Now it wont start, so he went out and installed a starter and it started, and it kept acting like a dead battery, But the muti-meter is reading 1335 for the battery, so It should start,.
Now my question is.. Is there a problem or does it just need a tune badly?

My buddy had a gs eclipse and put a turbonetics turbo kit on it. The car was untuned and he never had any problems like that.

Yep.

We seem too have it under control, But we just have too disconnect the battery, and then plug it back in too start it.

Cars going too Ray soon.

its probably 13.37 volts....

but i think the problem lies in the fact that he did the dumbest thing ever. Why didnt he just sell teh car, take the money from the car and the money he was going to spend on boosting it and buy a gst?

Cause spending the extra money on a GST is even dumber. Upgrading to a gsx is worth it, but for a GST, you might as well put that money into the bottom end of the 420a and the turbo setup for the 420a and it will be able to hold just as much power. Then all he'd need is fuel and tuning which you would also need with a GST

What's his fuel setup. My money on it running like **** lies there, it's were most people who don't do enough research on boosting a 420a go wrong

He has a big fuel pump.

Took the car too a DSM speacalist.

Alot of problems.

- Needs new injectors
- New fuel rail Not sure, But I think im forgetten some stuff.
- New plugs
- New Bottom end
- Then a good tune.

Most "DSM specialists" don't know jack about boosting a 420a. Tell him to get on here or on 2gnt and give details about his setup and then I can help him out. A "big fuel pump" is not what is required as far as fuel systems go. He needs a walbro fuel pump (which I gather is what he has already) and he needs some sort of rising rate fuel pressure regulator (either an fmu, a vortech sfmu, or a cartech rrfpr) A regular 1:1 regulator will not do unless he is using more advanced setups (i.e. megasquirt or the hahn portfueler - 8-injector setup) He also needs either a missing link or a FCD (both are used to fool the map into not seeing boost so it doesn't send a signal to the ECU that causes fuel cut.) One is mechanical one is electrical.

- Needs new injectors - I highly doubt he needs new injectors although he can go larger with a vortech sfmu to adjust his idle fp.
- New fuel rail - unless if he busted it up somehow, he doesn't need a new fuel rail -
New plugs - agreed, one range colder than stock
- New Bottom end - depends
- Then a good tune. - not gonna happen without MSnS or the portfueler, you can't just slap on a safc to tune with, I can provide more info as to why if he wants. If he stays on the stock injectors and goes with a simple 12:1 fmu setup and keeps the boost below 8psi he should be fine

I may only have a few posts here, but I've been through this and am a very active member as well as a moderator on the best site for 2gnts.

^these two sentences do not go well together at all. I hope he's ready to read alot about MS and keep a laptop with him for a couple months so when his car doesn't start or run right upon startup he can fix it.

So did he verify there was actually something wrong with the bottom end, or did the kid who knows nothing about cars just pull a motor and drop another block in in a couple days? Either that or he paid out the ass to have it done or has a good friend that knows what they're doing.
