Mailed Citation
I was proceeding down the road getting closer to an accident where traffic was being directed by an officer. As I was coming down the hill the officer waved his hand as if for me to come foward and make my turn. As i proceeded through the turn the officer proceeded to scream at the top of his lungs to stop my car. So i stopped in the middle of intersection with traffic still coming both ways. The cop then yelled at me to park in the mall parking lot which was right across the street. So the cop walked away from directing traffic and proceeded up to the car. He very rudely asked me for my license. He did not take my registration or insurance(mind you this isnt my car, it was my girlfriends who was in the car with me). Then the officer proceeds to go back to directing traffic for 10-15 minutes while i sit there. During this time i assume the other officer who was with him ran my license, can one officer pull me over and then the citation be issued by another? He finally brings my license back and when i try to explain to him that i saw him wave me on, he gets loud and tells me i will recieve a citation in the mail for disregard for a traffic control device or something of that nature. I honestly dont understand what i did wrong since he waved me to make the turn. Any advice you could give me on how to handle this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Since I was not there nor do I know the intersection you were at I can't tell what you did or didn't do wrong. My guess is that the officer was giving you one direction and you misunderstood to mean another. OK 1st you have to get a summons if you do I would plead not gulty and go to court. The officer must prove in court that you knowingly did not folllow his directions. Not to say that he can't prove it he maybe right in this case and you just made a mistake. I have to tell you all directing traffic is one of the most nerve racking jobs a police officer does. Its dangerous and people can really be A** holes. So you tend to get thin skined when people screw up when your working on one. Anyway if you get the summons call the court and get a court date talk to the prosecutor (DA) and see if you can get the summons tossed out or a reduced fine. Good Luck
