Body Work Help

Well I've decided the next job on the list to be done to the GSX was get the front bumper filled and repainted since it is 11 years old and is starting to show its wear. I know some people will react with why considering it looks good as is but I'm very anal about my car and up close it has stone chips and is starting to get spider weby. I was just wondering if anyone has got this done to their cars and how much it actually cost in the end?

On a side note I'm also considering getting the hood fixed and repainted. I was thinking I should get the hood painted black because I have seen so many people get screwed with Carbon Fiber and I don't feel like dishing $450 out for a hood only to have to pay to have it recleared so it lasts. Would a black hood look good on a Candy Apple Red-ish 2G Eclipse that is lowered and has a fmic?

I'm not a huge fan of the black hood. There are CF hoods that will last, but you have to keep it up just like anything else and you can't get a cheap one. Not to mention, having your hood painted by anyone good would be fairly expensive as well, since you'll have to paint both top and bottom for it to look decent.

As far as the bumper goes. Should only be a few hundred bucks to get it repainted. If it's cracked/split/dented up you'll probably have to replace it with a new one as fixing plastic is near impossible.

Im a painter/bodyman .... hmmm to FIX a bumper ( sand it, whatever needs to be done) and respray it you are looking at like $250-350, you cant just respray it, it will most likely need a little repair. You need to buy the all plastic primer which is for bumpers and you need flex agent so it wont spider crack from stress, plus you cant forget the basecoat/clearcoat and that could differ in price depending on which brand, how durable the paint is, and long it will last.

It will be less, but take it from me, prepping anything for paint is a PITA.

I had my front bumper and both fenders painted for $400 after I hit the deer.
