just like the gun thread, does anyone here bowhunt or shoot for fun? i just got my dads old bow and started shooting, possibly going bow hunting this year. right now i just have a target set up in my basement, i have a PSE Baby Gforce set up with only 53 pounds of draw weight, i think it has a 70 percent weight let off. ill have pictures soon.

Haha wow, I never ever thought one of these would pop up.

I've been shooting since I was 8. I currently shoot a Mathews Legacy, draw weight is something like 70lbs or so, I've never really cared to check.

Shot competitively when I was young, have been doing it less now. I actually just shot a squirrel in my backyard this morning. My mom wants them all dead so I have free reign.

I've also been bowhunting since I was allowed. Shoot mostly doe as I don't see a lot of legal bucks where I live, but it's all the same to me. Venison FTW. Currently I've taken 6 deer with the bow and countless squirrel/dove.

in pa u dont need special license for different weapons.

when i go to bucks this year im gonna try and see if i can do archery, apparently they have all kinds of stuff like archery golf.

doesnt anyone have tips of how not to hurt your forearm, i never did it with my dads friends bow but with mine it gets me once and a while, i guess ill need a forearm guard but im sure theres a way to prevent it.

Hold the bow with the inside of your thumb, kind of in the webbing. You're probably holding it in your palm which is making your forearm go into the string's path.

I don't even wrap my 4 fingers around the grip, I shoot with an open hand.

I bow hunt, So far this is my 3ed year, and Ive goten a buck and a dow last year, and a buck the year before.
My first buck was a 8 pointeer and my second was a 10 pointer.
I shoot a matthews, and I love it, I think my draws at 65 or 70 pounds now?
Hell, its soon season, Im going tomorrow too get my dads and I license's

my dad told me to shoot with a open hand too, ill try out ur advice. first time i shot the bow it struck my forearm and wrist, now it usually just hits my wrist, one of those emo wrist bands could help. its pretty painful when it breaks ur skin, and keeps hitting. when i had a kids bow when i was younger id get hit 10 times, it would leave some nasty purple and blue marks on my arm.

whats the best bows? mathews and hoyt? my dad just bought a bowtech 101st airborne, hes going elk hunting in colorado this year.
