Please please wear your seatbelts!

I'm not sure if any of you know this guy or not. He was 19 from Buckingham and went to Bucks, so it hits kind of close to home. The other night he was driving too fast, hit black ice and lost control of his car. It tumbled off the road and because he was not wearing his seatbelt, he was thrown from his car and is now dead. He was an only child too. I can only imagine what his parents are going through right now. So if you could, please keep his family in your thoughts. A sad example that seatbelts really can save lives.

But driving way too fast was also the culprit. Wouldnt have been thrown out of the car had he been doing the speed limit. But black ice blows....

If you are going 30 mph without your seatbelt and your car rolls, your getting tossed. Chances are that if he was wearing the belt, he would be here today.

Buckle up fellas.

A friends son also lost control without a seatbelt and was ejected out the rear window. He spent a few days in a coma, and is now paralized from the neck down. I'm sure a good majority of us do stupid things as well.

+1 for the seatbelt NOT being one of them.

A seatbelt is something I never even think about. There is no reason to be in a car without a seatbelt, unless it's parked somewhere dark.

I agree, Cars shouldn't even start without the seatbelt being on. I don't have an air bag so wearing a seatbelt is the only option besides hitting the window. My car doesn't move till everyone in the car has their seatbelt on. It's not even that the people on this site are bad drivers, it's the other 95% of the people you have to worry about.

Sorry to hear about this kind of stuff.
I can't drive without my seatbelt, it feels awkward and unnatural. Kind of like forgetting your wallet. I was expecting more resposes along the lines of "I would have been killed if I was wearing my seatbelt...blah blah blah" and am pleasently surprised there are none.

The only cases I've heard of seatbelts "killing" were with small children/infants, or 5-point harnesses in a rollover, without a cage.

I'd rather have bruises from a seatbelt than bruises from teh windshield.

Is it really "cool" to not wear your seatbelt? I love mine, it keeps me in place during tight turns! I am considering 5 point harnesses now!

It is nearly impossible to sit in my car without buckling the harnesses. You have to put them over your shoulders and your lap, another second and they are all buckled! I still can't believe they aren't street legal.

Anyone see that video of the heavy set guy getting into the accident without his seatbelt on? He gets tossed all over the car. Definitely worth buckling up!
