The incident happened at about 3:10 p.m. at the Brookside Swim and Tennis Club in Lower Makefield Township.

According to police, 21-year-old Bridget Gallagher was carrying a 3-year-old male when lightning struck a nearby tree and transferred to them. The two were apparently seeking shelter in a swim club building.

The young victim was initially transported to St. Mary's Medical Center in Langhorne before being transferred to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Gallagher remains at St. Mary's. Both are listed in serious condition.

Early reports indicate that Gallagher was the babysitter of the child.

Its funny b/c she was actually on the phone with 911 when it happened. She was calling b/c there was a bad accident on 95 right behind her, then it hit her back windshield. She spun out and somehow got her car going again. (its stick and had stalled...on 95) She tried to not come into work since she was so shook up, but my bosses are assholes and made her come in, they had someone go pick her up.

We just lost a Sgt. to this also, he was in a boat watching the Blue Angels and a storm came in so he headed for the docks. Eye witnesses says he got out of the boat and started to the dock. 10 yards away he got struck, killing him. You never know!
