Cliffs: Finished 1st of 15 in STX, 24th of 236 in PAX, and with my 3rd win in 3 events, only need one more win to lock up the season championship!

It's been few weeks since the DC Pro and a little over a month since the last DC event, but now it's time to focus on the DC STX season win. I'm currently sitting in 1st with 2 wins in 2 events. As the first event of the year had to be cancelled, the season will be determined by the best 4 out of 6 events. Sunday was a key event to hopefully begin putting a squeeze on the championship with a win.

This event at Fed Ex Field was held in the "A" lot, as will the remaining events on the schedule. Why is this important? Well, as opposed to the E/F lot that we usually run, the "A" lot has TONS of constant elevation changes making turn in more challenging depending on where a cone is placed. You not only have to navigate the course, but also the terrain. For example, if you don't notice that it's slightly downhill/off camber at the turn in cone, you'll be understeering like crazy and pushing out late for the next section...or into a cone. Fun stuff.

Since this was the first time on this lot for the year and the first time out in a few weeks, there was some feeling out to do on the first run. I was a little hesitant early on in spots and turned in early as well getting used to things...and hit a couple cones along the way.

Feeling comfortable, it was now time to start pushing it a bit. Managed to push it into a 58.982 which would be my fastest time of the day...and one of only 4 cars in all the ST* classes totalling 45 competitors to get into the 58's. Of those 4 cars, two of them were from STU.

On my last two runs I just pushed too hard. I felt as if my second run was good enough to take the win, and while going all out I pushed wide in the same spot both times, one time taking out the cone and the other time pushing to the right of the cone causing an O/C.

Final result of the day was an STX win out of 15 competitors and a PAX finish of 24th out of 236. If I had been a little more cautious in the one section on my last run, I think I could have pulled out a nice run to push me up the PAX ranks...but oh well, I'll take it, no complaints. I'm currently still in 1st place in STX with a total of 3 wins in 3 events. One more win and the season is locked up! That event won't happen for another month, but I should have at least one event of practice before then.

that course looks pretty nice..i wanna go down there once next season. and congrats on the wins and possible championship

Thanks! I strongly suggest everyone to make at least one trip down to Fed Ex...you won't leave disappointed.

Congrats on the First Place. 24 of 236 aint to shabby either, I would've been somewhere around 175!

I too hope to get a chance to run down at Fed/Ex, but it's such a hike. Not to mention I can't seem to make it to all the local events, let alone head 3 hours south for one-

Thanks again. But trust me, pick a weekend and just do it. Plan ahead and just be prepared for the trip. There's just so much beautiful asphalt it makes you want to cry.
