wow, Interesting...Im going to check my tires on all my vehicles now and do so when buying new ones. Most performance tires (which most of us use) change their tread pattern every couple of years so it shouldnt be that hard to spot just from glancing at them.

i find it interesting, but i have my own views on it. lol. If the tire is starting to dry rot then its a tire that definitely should be replaced. Good find though.

Thats what I planned, I saw it and figured everyone especialy us enthusiasts needed to be aware. I'm checking mine and my GF's tomorrow and i will let my family know. Hopefully now that this has been made aware of to many people tire manufacturers will actually put a noticable date on them that everyone can check. It will save there asses from lawsuit and save peoples lives.

It's not even about that, its the "Brand new" tires coming off the shelf that should be paid attention too. Like shown in the video they bought a tire and here it was actually manufactured in 1991. Thats buying a tire that is already 18 years old.

I work for Goodyear and we got a bulletin about this. At our shop we keep only tires that are 1 year old tops. And when the tires get sold of the DOT number is older we toss it and grab a fresher one. As far as I know that is common policy within all corporate stores but I could see a mom and pop store carrying an old ass tire for a long time and selling it.

everytime we called our supplier at my old work they always sent us 2 year old tires. i used to send them back, especially if it was for my car. i would special order brand new ones.

ive never had a problem with old tires... nuless like was mentioned earlier, the tire is dry rotted... and even then, ive rocked dry rott with no problem LOL

usually a tire will just grow a tumor (bubble) on the sidewall or something.... or become out of balance.... nothing serious in my experience
