So, is it legal to buy a black DARE plate from someone?

....and if so, anyone want to sell me theirs? (PA)

I'm 99.9% sure it is illegal. I remember reading about it, just not sure if it was this forum.

ift he plate is currently reg. yes. you and the owner can go to a tag/title place and he has to have the current reg. drivers license and he has to sign off on the tag.

i don't see why you couldn't. it's like transferring your old tag onto your new car.

like in delaware, it's a big deal to have a 5 digit tag under 85xxx (i think it's 85) because only those numbers can get registered for a black tag. when i bought my saturn, that the tag on it was good for a black tag. when i bought my rsx, i transfered that tag onto this car just by signing a few papers.

Yea, I remember seeing something on the news about this.

People we're paying insane amounts for the lowest number plates.

They do look decent on some cars. It is the shame however that it's D.A.R.E., a program that spreads b.s. propaganda without scientific merit, uses equally clueless instructors famous for using cookie cutter fabricated stories paraded as their own, and has not only proven completely ineffective, but is well known to get youth MORE interested in trying certain drugs. I refuse to support such a turd.

x2 - highest bidder says!

The new ones are terrible, although I've been debating getting a SCCA plate and ditching the DARE, but a black plate on a black POS looks like the best mod evah!

No, you can not transfer the DARE plate unless it is someone within your family. The only plates that are really transferable in PA is Classic and Antique tags. Other than that, you are stuck buying the new style DARE plates.

I tried doing this once because a friend had one and it couldn't be done. Sorry for the bad news!!
