im sorry i know nothing about subarus except they have boxer engines and come in awd, so where can i find what engines came in either of them and will parts for a impreza outback fit on the legacy outback?

the Impreza had a 2.2. The Legacy had a 2.5.

ok so the parts will not transfer over obviously so what subaru vehicles came with a 2.5 that i would be able to get parts to to put on the legcay outback im picking up?

The 2.5L and the 2.2L are interchangeable and will bolt right up to any chassis. The problem is the wiring aspect and making it run well. Physically, you can basically switch them up but you will have to take further precautions to have them run right.

ok well its a 1998 subaru legacy outback wagon, 148K on the clock i believe head gasket was done but it needs a clutch, wires, plugs, battery, and tires. i have a plymouth breeze now that i will be DD whil ei work on the subaru so i want to know what can i bolt on, also is the 2.5 in the legacy outback a SOHC or DOHC? i plan to prob just do intake headers and exhaust but knowing me ill prob want to supercharge or turbo it eventually. so say i buy headers for a 2.5rs, will they bolt up to my car and fit? or will i have fitament problems due to the different chassis?
