Just thought I'd start my journal. Then go back and update it. Right now I'm tackling a motor swap solo. ON TO SR20 #3! haha. here some pics of what i got done last night... keep in mind, i've never done anything like this before and have absolutely 0 training in the automotive industry. I've learned everything from forums, magazines, matt at import intelligence and a few others, oh, and I do own a chiltons manual.

It's not as hard as it seems to do a simple motor swap.

I will tell ya that it is not wise to put a motor on it's side like that. All the oil is going to creep past the rings.

nope its not too hard at all, except with a broken engine lift

pulled the cover

swapin valve covers, old motor

polished the intake mani and lots of other parts. you can see in previous pics how the metal had browned

sr #1 blacktop... lost all my oil on the way to florida through a hole in the oil return line off the turbo. the steering linkage was rubbing it til it put a hole... im driving through virgina on my way back and boom

sr #2 redtop longblock. started to rod knock, very small amount of metal in the oil. so i stopped driving it to put this "new motor" in. still drives and runs ok, more like still ****in fast

sr #3 blacktop longblock, new bearings, new built head with stock cams and metal headgasket.... being returned

sr #4 being built right now, new bottom end, new head, metal head gasket, bc cam **** minus cams... anybody sellin cams? haha

well im returning the one i just got, but my other one is still running pretty solid, but has a rod knock and ready for a rebuild. i was already offered $500 for my block, but i havent decided if im selling it yet.
