WRX swaybar into L.

Well some idiot over at subaru put a coathanger where a swaybar is suppossed to go on my car. So i took that old rusted 13mm piece of poo out in favor of a 17mm almost new WRX sway bar. (the mike's) This plus the new RS suspension I put in yesterday has given me a suprisingly stiffer ride. Its almost to stiff on the crappy phila roads, but it sure is fun for spirited driving

Heres how you do:

First: Either raise the front of the car or put it on ramps as seen in the pic. This will relieve all stress that is on the rear swaybar.

Second: Use your slight mechanics skill and unbolt the bolts that hold in the bar. I dont have pics because if you cant find these you shouldnt be doing this.

Third: Lay the bars next to eachother and think "why the hell didnt this come stock?"

Fourth: Take the bushings in this pics and either drill them out to be wider....or, cut slices in them so the new bar will fit better. (you can also buy new ones that fit right but im cheap and broke .)

Fifth: Put everything back on and bolt it up.

This is how it should look. The sway bar should be bolted on the inside of the endlinks, not the outside.

For those of you that are observant.....that is the new RS bumper that is waiting to go on my car....all i need it a bumper beam

So it fit huh?

NICE!!!!!
You should get a 24mm bar and feel the difference. You should also get a set of endlinks, but I know "you're broke".

PS. the last pic doesn't work.

Not sure if tinypic will let you.
Photobucket has an image tag link and will resize for you.

It doesn't work because this site requires the .jpb/bmp/gif tag to be present at the end of the url. If you right click on the pic > Properties > copy the location, then it will work.

hmm Id say do the suspension. If your L struts are anything like mine were then the RS suspension will be a wonderful upgrade. As for the brakes, I will be doing those after I get my car painted (dreaming). And it should be fairly straighforward since SubieSport Magazine has a complete rundown of how to do it. :D .
-Pete

PS.- Oh and I now have Helix Solid Endlinks on and will be putting a Helix adjustable swaybar on this week.
