i'd go post in the vendor section and see which one chimes in. There is a normal forum in there outside all the vendor sub forums.

They'll most likely answer your question. They ignored mine though... but I was asking about a V8...

they gave me an est. that is at this time out of my price range and being that i make $8 an hour it would take me another 3-4 months to get that money plus money for surprise expenses and for my tranny rebuild.

and i would like to get this work done soon.

3500.00 is gonna be tough man. With everything being replaced, you are gonna be over that ballpark. Your better off just freshening up a motor.

yeah thats what I'm finding out... I'm just gonna search for a new or slightly used short block. I've already seen several motors for a decent price just need to find the right one.

for advise, cheaper isn't always better, especially when dealing with an engine, with the clearances being so tight and having to be exact, get it done right, or find a new shortblock, my buddy rebuilt his engine and it cost him $4,000-$5,000 just for the parts, fully built though.

OP, how much power are you looking for that you feel the need to throw that kind of money into the engine?! That 20G you're trying to source really isn't going to put you into that kind of power level...

I'm looking to be in the 300s the 50-trim will get me there. the reason i want to build the motor or get a new one is the fact that my car has about 190k on it and 90% of the parts are original and were never replaced.

Do compression/leakdown tests first. 190K doesn't mean the engine is shot and won't hold 300whp. I just don't see the point in paying 3500 to overhaul an engine for power that it can do stock.
