I guess it was my lucky day

I was debaiting whether or not to post this but I figured ahh WTH.

I walked into my local "quicky mart" the other day just to tap MAC. I got up to the machine and before I even swiped my card I noticed the screen said "this machine can not print a receipt, to continue press YES to cancel press NO". So, me being the daring guy that I am pressed YES to continue. The next screen to pop up was asking how much I wanted to take out of my account. So again, being the dare devil that is me I pressed $200, thinking it wouldn't work because I never swiped my card or entered my pin. I was pretty surprised when the maching spit out 10 - $20.00 bills.

I looked around and there was nobody in the store but me and the teenage clerk. I wasn't about to give him the money and I had no way of putting it back in the machine so I just put the dough in my pocket and strolled out of there like I did nothing wrong.

I actually felt bad about it, still do. If for some reason it comes back to me thru video survaliance or anything like that I would return the money for sure. But I guess until that time comes I'll find something to spend it on... like a track day or something.

Damn, that's sick. I thought most ATM's timeout after a certain period of time so that exact kind of thing doesn't happen. Guess that one doesn't. lol

your lucky day, and someones bad day...

they'll most likely fight the bank on this and it may come back to you if the bank investigates fully. who knows...

my ex from highschool had her cards used by someone for like 1k and went to the police about it and nothing ever happened... the bank reimbursed her though.

I doubt you will get in trouble as it was $200, that really isn't a lot of money to banks.

Economic stimulous at its best, consider it a gift.

I am betting on a electronic malfunction because everytime you hit enter for a new transaction it asks for your PIN again. No one would of left a machine without getting money, they went to the machine for a reason. Same as when it times out and if the card was still in it, it would of kept the card and reset. IDK?

Its not ur fault that the machine was messed up, take it as a gift. Plus the bank would have to spend to much money to do that much of an investigation over $200, they have insurance that will refund the persons $200. If it did somehow come back to you just play stupid, and say i swiped my card and thought i took out of my account. Good deal man, i hope that happens to me some day.

not worried about posting it, I purposly left some of the key details vauge. besides, like I said, if it does catch up with me I will refund the money... I just had no way of doing it at the time.

As I was walking up someone was leaving the store, I can only assume they tried to tap MAC, saw the same screen I did, but maybe they only read the first couple of words that said "this machine can not" and figured the machine was broke or something so they walked away.

That happened to me... yesterday? A woman left her ATM transaction open.

I'm hurting for money, BAAAAD. But I still didn't steal from her

That was a real douchebag thing to do.
