How to unlock GSM phone?
![]() I went to at&t, got a sim card but the phone wouldn't find signal. We came to the conclusion that it is because of differences in systems (bands) or something like that. However, i am thinking maybe the phone needs to be unlocked or something. It was purchased by my mother overseas. We ended up buying a cheap at&t phone so i still have the sim card and i am hoping to be able to use this phone, it's just sitting around collecting dust. So if anyone can help me, please post. Thanks!!! Last edited by olmytsi; 06-04-2008 at 09:32 AM. |

The link to the ebay add didn't state what GSM the phone works. The phone should have an option where you choose which GSM you want it to work on. You can either set it to automatic or select it manually. This should be in options for the phone. On my Motorola that I brought from overseas has this option in the phone connections.

Ok, according to that ebay ad, phone only works in uk/europe/australia and also asia/africa i assume. The USA always has to have the oddball system that isn't compatible with the rest of the world
Not sure what to do with this phone, kinda sux, it's such a niece piece! |

wellll...it should work...does it say network unavailable or does it just not get signal? if it just doesn't pick up signal go into options (or settings) > then to network > then it should say automatic or manual, you want to make sure it says manual then it will search for any available networks in your area...you don't have to find att if you have att...all carriers have roaming agreements with eachother now...

I tried everything, i'm pretty sure it's not compatible with the USA. I'll just keep it for when i go overseas and to listen to the FM radio on the go while here.
Thanks guys |
