Slipping Clutch

What is the likelihood of a brand new stage 2 clutch slipping after less than 4 months of driving? Never being launched?

Not good, is it slipping at full TQ. in your highest gear.

It does not slip in first or second, but third up it does, usually when im boosting.

how much tq are you making? Do you have expierence driving stick? Was it bought second hand or new? Its possible but unlikely, especially if your car is not heavily modified and never launched as you said. Could you explain what happens exactly? Not saying you are wrong but I have heard crazy explanations from people before, example:

Customer "I need a new power steering pump"
My boss "sure thing"
*customer brings car back after we replace the PS pump*
Customer "The noise hasn't gone away"
Boss "What noise?"
Customer "The clicking noise when I turn"
Boss "Most likely a CV Joint, why didn't you say this in the first place"
Customer "I thought it was the steering"


But I don't really see anything you could mistake a slipping clutch for..

Stage 2? What brand? What specific kit?

I have experience driving sticc, the car was bought second hand, but i was told the clutch was brand new. Im not sure how much tq i am putting down, but its a 92 vr4 with (mbc set to about 12psi, catbac, and intake). was told that would give me just over 300hp, but dont know the tq.

ninja edit: spoke to the person i bought the car from, they dont remember the brand, but is trying to find out.

What exactly happens is if im in third or forth gear around 3k rpm and i give it gas, it just rev till i let off, then it catches again.

Did it come with a receipt for the clutch? If not, sounds like the seller may have lied (to put it simply).

I'm starting to think the same, I bought it from a shop that works on cars like mine, so i gave them the benefit of the doubt. but alot of the "brand new" stuff they claimed to put on before i bought the car looked used, but as long as it worked properly i did not mind. but now im getting pissed.

MBC had scratches all over it
Boost gauge i seen them take it off another car.
intake was suppose to be k&n and its not.

but as i said once it work fine i was not complaining. now theyre saying that the clutch is a ware and tear item and they cant do anything. Thats not gonna fly by me, so im waiting to here from the head of the shop.

If they are going to sell you on the 300whp claim with those mods then it wouldn't surprise me if they lied about the clutch as well.

sounds like a bad clutch from the begining! i also think he lied about the clutch keep us updated as to what happens

That really sucks! Definately keep on them. If you've only had the car for 4 months and it was supposed to be new, with your lack of launching, there's no reason it should be garbage already.

Yeah didnt believe that either. so i'm buying an afc neo this weekend and planned on getting it tuned and dyno'd, but this clucth problem is holding me bacc. I just want this to be a smooth transaction.

I have not talk to the owner yet, just his girl, and she's been talking like theres nothing they can do. So i sent her a list of things that was wrong with they car that they said they would fix.

list looked like this

List of thing that didnt work since i bought the car

Rear wiper dont work
antenna doesnt go up
rear defogger dont work
aero wing dont work
car still smokes (said it was cuz there were no cats)
fuel tank leak (missing screws)
grinding sound when you turn left
Wheel bearing was replace with a used one, so grinding sound is bacc
Sqeaking sound when you turn either way all the way
cracc'd left head light (I fixed that)
driver side pop up light does not go all the way down.
Radio dont work (I fixed that, got an after market cd player)
AC was not charged or dont work
Leaking fluid somewhere around the transfer case
Grinding going into second( I think its the syncros, but im not the pro shop)
There is alot of grease inder the car near the drive shaft.
Cruise control dont work
rear turbo might be bad (as per Owner)
And rear brakes were replaced with used ones from another car.

Havent heard from her after that. Most of this stuff i dont care about, but some annoy the fucc out of me.

Dont really want to post that just yet, want to c what they do first. but as twastheglow said most people prob already know who im talking about.

Yeah we'll C, tried to give them the pass. There's is a shop in long island that does great work, should have just gone there. ill give it a lil more time before i start spazing out. Might end up having to just show up at the shop.

i have also seem clutches slip when the rear main seals go it soaks the disc in oil
