What is a license key sticker?

If its the little sticker on the bottom of the lap top that says "Windows XP Home Edition" and has a product key number than I have it.

I'd like it done ASAP cause it's holding me back from a few things and I live in Langhorne, just north of Philly.

If you have a viruis problem, depending on the type of virus, just stickin in another xp cd and re-loading it wont remove your virus/problem. It may look like everything is deleted but its still there. Your pc will compress all the files and store it, you will need a program and a external drive, then load the the program on the drive then set ur computer to read the drive first on reboot then when u reboot instead of it going streaght to ur c drive it will go to the external one, then run the program on there which will erase everything, sorta like a piggy back effect. Only way to truely clear everything. I only kno cuz I had a monsterous virus that keep coming back and a friend of mine who go to school for IT did it for me.... Google it you will find it. Good luck

he's got everything backed up that he wants to keep. He can reformat and reinstall windows xp. That'll wipe stuff clean. If he really wants to be sure... he should reformat and install linux, then reformat and install XP.

The OS's should wipe each other out, but that is just a tad bit of speculation by me

You don't need to install an OS twice to completely format the drive. There will be an option to format the drive when you start the OS installation.

nothing ever deletes, it will always be retriveable, unless you completely wip out the drive, which isnt as simple as just rebootin the OS. try this www.killdisk.com ... it is a free program that wil lexplain a lil more.

Then again it depends why you are reformating. If it is a viruis, some will go away and some can withstand a reboot and pop back up. Or just to make it run better cuz it is slow then a regualr format is for you.

I work at a hospital and when we change computer we physical remove hard drive and dispose of them through a company which incinerates them. Same goes for gov pc's and bank pc's

I've never seen a virus capable of sticking around after a clean format.

It's possible, but extremely rare, and they cannot survive a low level format and deleting of partitions.
