Well there's your problem

Everyone loves carnage pics. Could've been much worse though. Heads were $975 and I waited 11 months for them. Remember kids, rich is good!

Yup. The engine builder has an extra set of similar heads laying about so I'll probably get them along with whatever else is needed. After that, I'll have it tuned for pump gas and 8-10 psi and will likely try and sell it. Not something I really want to do, but it's not really practical for my life anymore.

Well, 2 days before it popped I was scheduled to be dynoed. However, a fuel leak and the fact that I could'nt actually get the car up the ramp to the dyno(reverse does'nt work so well and the operator's winch was busted) made this a no-no.
Last year, I ran the poop out of it on 15-16psi, an 50-50 mix of 93/112, and a jetting combo of 65/70. Afr was spot on.
For this year, I changed to a better flowing header and 100% 112. Assuming that it would require more fuel, I jetted up to 66/76 and a lighter secondary spring which would provide a richer progression of fuel. Amazingly, it went super lean and I was stupid enough to track it despite knowing that it was on the lean side as the turbine wheel was tan with white tips. And... pop. It's just really suprising that just the header change and the race fuel would require so much more fuel. Oh yeah, timing was up 3* this year as well.

Damn I wouldn't expect a header to change the a/f ratio at all. Well, maybe because you ran higher octane it had a huge effect. Learned your lesson now!

Yeah, sunoco 112 has a specific gravity of .712 or something like that and most premium is around .765 IIRC. Remember that i was running a 50/50 mix before. Going up 7 jet sizes is rather drastic(65/70 to 66/76). I got away with 11psi on straight pump with 65/62 jetting! When you double the size of a hole, the flow potential quadruples granted the same pressure.
