ignition replacement, nissan charging tooo much

so i need my ignition replaced on my 300zx. the full mechanism. i called up nissan directly and they said it'll prob be total 300 bucks after all said and done.

do you think there are any places who'd charge less? plus they are goign to charge me 68 bucks just to run diagnostics on the car, wtf, i thought that **** was free haha.

anyway, do you guys reccomend any shops for work like this?

im a locksmith....i can check it out and let you know.....i can def get the ignition cylinder if thats all you need, but if you really need the entire mechanism then you might have to deal with the dealer, if you have to go that route make sure they code it to your key

im confused now. i just got off the phone with a tech at nissan and he really made it seem like it was a huge project of some sort. like really made it seem like 'wow i dont know if its worth it' kind of attitude.

basically the key is stuck in the ignition and the guy before be put some type of toggle near the left side of the car to toggle when i want to turn the key. really weird setup, however since i got my car, ive yet to need this 'toggle thing' to actualy turn on the car.

so im at a lost of words. basically i just want someone to look at this and fix it, you know? nissan made it seem like "WOA BUDDY WOA, lets not go that far' kinda attitude

if the cylinder turns then im not sure what the prob is other then the key wont come out.....if this is the case then it should be a relatively easy/inexpensive fix...if the ignitoin doesnt turn then it gets a bit pricier, but that doesnt sound like the case.......ill get you a price for a new cylinder/coding the cylinder 2morrow when i get to work...or if youd like i can give you the number for our office and you can talk to someone and explain what is going on and they can give you a price right over the phone..let me know

a1 security in malvern....more like frazer though...prob about 20- 30 min from you depending on traffic...sounds to me like the toggle was his own little anti theft since the key is stuck inside.....is it somewhat hidden or in plain view ?

it looks like an automatic uses an alternate ignition then the one a manual would use....which for some reason is a bmw ignition.....would you feel like swinging by here to have it looked at real quick ? ONly reason i ask is bc there isnt much info as to what this alternate ignition is, but by seeing it we would have a better idea

possible problem with the key interlock cable that runs to the shifter? it keeps you from removing the key unless the car's in park.
