Was it the actual display or the relay/fuse?

Found this on http://everything2.com/e2node/Nissan%2520240SX....

Digital HUD Gauge Cluster
Another frequently-failing part is the dash cluster. In cars equipped with a digital dash, the HUD may go bad. This is usually a result of solder connections on the HUD unit PC (printed circuit) board failing over time. Some of them are surface mount connections and unless you are fairly skilled with a soldering iron (and have a decent iron!) you will want to simply replace the unit.

Time to break out the sodering iron there bud. Go buy a nice one and see if you can fix it. Honestly, if you mess it up oh well, it's already broken lol.

Relax, bud. When the dude with a drag Honda and a boosted daily that has had fast Honda's for years AND fabs his own parts tells the new kids on the block that they're doing it wrong, it's time to step back and learn something.

I didn't trust myself with a soldering iron either until I started taking a bunch of spare wire and some solder I had laying around and started melting em together. I couldn't do it for **** at first but wires are pretty easy. Soldering on a circuit board though could be a bitch.

I bought my S13 with a burnt out HUD unit. I drove by tach for 2 years before switching the cluster to an analog unit. I much more prefer the good ole needle.
