Waxed the Wheels

So, the other day, i waxed all four wheels on my sweet 06 Galant. The car was washed, polished and waxed the day before. Im just gonna post a before, during and after photo of one wheel.

Now, dont expect to see an amazing difference in the finish of the wheels, thats not the purpose in waxing wheels. A couple of reason you want to wax them are:

-Brake dust doesnt stick to the spokes, so when you wash the car is simply wipes right off.
-By preventing the brake dust to stick to the finish of the wheel, it can't become ground into the finish and requires much less scrubbing when it comes wash time.
-By protecting the finish, the wheels will look new longer, and wont corrode or "flake" as the years go by.

Its a simple task that saves you time down the road, and in more extreme cases, money. Also, doesnt leave your wheels looking "brown" in the corners and surfaces even after you wash and scrub without acids.

Wheel Acids should ALWAYS be a last resort, and in any instance of use, waxing the wheels is almost a requirement.

Onto the pics. I washed the brake dust off with soap and water, towel dried, and then applied the polish, wiped them down, then applied the wax, then wiped them down. Simple.

Dirty:

Wax on

Wax off

in my experience straight carnuba doesnt last long on the wheels because of the heat generated from normal driving. you are better off using a sealant or a product made specifically for wheels.

looks good. I need to really wax my wheels, you wouldn't believe the amount of brake dust that builds up. any kind of wax would help I'm sure.
