hahaha all those ads that pop up on the internet about increasing your gas mileage, there was one that i found about using a hydrogen generator and feeding it into your intake manifold, i found the way to build the generator cause its like electricity+baking soda+ water= hydrogen. i wasn't about to put it into my car

i think we all just have to live with it until we start seeing more hydrogen cars and hydrogen stations, cause thats looking like the fuel of the future, lets just hope they can make some sort of conversion for current cars

Thats cause they have been using the same way to calculate the epa since like the 1960 or 70's when it was first instated, i don't think it was till this year that they changed it

Its BS. There is only a certain amount of energy fuel can release upon detonation and saying you get double your MPG means you increase engine efficiency and fuel detonation efficiency past 100%... well past actually.

there is something called the mpg cap its like a pill you throw into the tank and it supposedly helps a bunch of news stations tested it and such but i dont believe it.

Hydrogen: 1. has been proven to be pretty safe for use in cars. Recent tests show it may actually be much safer than conventional gasoline powered cars. 2. is difficult to produce. Electrolysis is currently being used to extract H from water. Current estimates put it at around $6/kg (1kg of H is equivalent to about 1 gallon of gas- mileage wise). $6 is not that bad, but imagine telling people that in the early 2000s when gas was dirt cheap? People laughed, but now the prices are much closer. 3. Require gobs of electricity. New powerplants would be needed to support all of this electrolysis. 4. take time to produce~ there is a hydrogen station in white plains that producing it at around 12 kg/ day which is, as aforementioned roughly 12 gallons of gas. That is only used for their two or three prototype cars. I think that if we could use CNG (compressed natural gas), it would help free our dependence on oil. CNG is very very very cheap. Once again, there are vehicles running on CNG, but I'm not 100% sure how safe it is.

Hydrogen is about the worst "alternative" idea I have ever heard. Hydrogen is basically a battery, but with a very poor one at that. Why we aren't going Diesel now and developing future natural gas (about the only combustible resource we have in abundance here in the US besides coal) technology is beyond me. I guess when you are fighting a trillion dollar industry, you are going to be facing a uphill battle.
