no you dont.

All new gas "pedals" are not drive by cable, they are drive by wire....all electronic. There are no linkages. The pedal swings a potentiometer which tells the motor in the throttle body to activate....in simple terms.

The subaru gas "pedal" felt real flimsy to me when I dealt with one.

i believe 06+ WRX and STi gas pedal arms are also plastic... i know mine is on my 07 STi... i was a little disappointed when i first found this and noticed a good deal of flex in it and side to side play, but honestly now that its bolted into the car i really dont notice. i sure hope it doesn't snap off

that's retarded

teh Dirt, regardless of how the pressure is monitored to create acceleration/deceleration... it doesn't mean **** when the pedal snaps off. Slam on the brakes, brake pedal snaps off, car figures you're done braking...

HAHA oh man

Honestly I had a 95 Mitsu Mirage and I just couldnt believe how cheap it was made compared to my Honda. Not hating, but Mitsu's build quality has always been sub par in my book.

it really is a shame all the substandard parts they used to put the X together. plastic carbon fiber looking parts, cheap fabrics, ect. you can't tell so much in pics, but in person looking at the car its obvious especially if you are familar with the interiors of EVO 8 & 9. there are so many places you can tell they 'cut corners' on the X its not even funny.

Thats why I'm waiting and hoping they address these issues with either the MR or later models. If not it looks like I'll be hanging on to my VIII for quite a while.

Most likely the brake and clutch pedal are metal. They need to be stronger since they operate hydraulics, when the gas pedal just adjusts a potentiometer.

Why is my Civic better quality of build vs the Evo X, not to mention lighter with it's metal gas pedal.

The brake pedals are still metal because so much pressure has to be handled by these, as are the clutch pedals.

And the move to plastic drive by wire pedals isn't an effort to reduce weight, it is a federal mandated regulation for all newly produced cars.
