11 is BS, but i doubt youll see 15. It did have 114k on it, after all.
Id shoot for 12,5. Insurance companies never give you what its worth.

WRONG, you couldn't be more wrong. Not only will a lawyer take a portion of what is finally collected they usually settle for less than what the car is worth.. I love hearing from lawyers, they are 100% more reasonable than a angry claimant. Depending on what insurance company you're with they can determine the total loss figure from a few different sources. IN PA the total loss valuation has to be the average of two values from two sources approved by the Insurance Commissioner. Usually these sources are 1. Book value - NADA and 2. Fair Market Value, ADP, CCC, Mitchell. Insurance companies use programs like ADP, CCC and Mitchell and input all the vehicle information as well as the owner information. Based on zip codes the programs search thousands of classified and dealer adds and compares your vehicle to it. Once it has that figure it compares it with the NADA value and gives you the average. I can run my ADP total loss for you for $40 and tell you what it comes out too. BTW, I do this all day everyday for an insurance company! |

my step-dad is a lawyer and wrote to the insurance company on his own letter head about the value of an 86 celica that was in fantastic condition before it was rear ended.
the insurance company told him they'd only pay 1k for the car. He got them to pay 2.4k, bought the car back and fixed it. But if jeffros does this type of stuff for a living, get his help for sure. $40 is worth an extra 4k |

soooo...if you give me this value...what do i do then, like can i present it straight to them as a valid number and say give me this? and does the fact that it is a track edition and i can't find any track editions for under 15,000 mean anything?? like can i say "cool thats the value for a base model but i had the track edition, try finding me one of them"

Wow, you've got a pretty nice argument on your hands. Insurance companies are a joke. Good luck with it, though.

A major problem with these estimating systems is...especialy for the 350z there are about 20 different trims with the price between them ranging to like 15K. If the appraiser selected a base model he'd probably get that lowball figure.
If I run this report for you it'll show you a list of the vehicle is found just like your insurance company and give you a real total loss figure ( as I won't try and **** you.) EDIT: And the $40 is to cover the cost it costs me to run a valuation. |
