Cecil Tonight 4/23
Me...I'll be trying to get the supra to go a respectable time on street tires. After last week or almost drowning the engine on methanol and then massive wheelhop after the track started deteriorating due to the nighttime dew setting in, I'm hoping to put down a solid 12 second time @117-118mph. Should go 11's on radials but I want to see what it does in complete street trim. |

94 turbo supra converted to obdII SAFC custom 4" turbo back exhaust cone filter greddy 3row alkycontrol PAC methanol injection kit tial 44mm WG Boostlogic 67mm DBB turbo fluidyne radiator SSQV recirculated 6spd HPF feramic clutch ACT Heavy Dutry Pressure Plate <- PITA for normal driving I need to launch better but lots of people were breaking things due to an extra sticky track so I took it easy....but alittle too easy. I've only ever made 6 passes in a manual car, so there's plenty of time for adjustments and improvement. I put 1 gallon of Sunoco 104 in the tank with less than 1 gallon of 93 octane left in the tank and left the boost controller at 17.4psi. First run I didn't even hit 17 pounds, it stayed around 16. 60' 2.463 <- yuck 330 6.143 1/8 8.888 mph 92.39 <- what my NA supra trapped in the 1/4 mile lol 1000 11.196 1/4 13.101 @ 119.59 Run 2, ~17.5psi 60' 2.363 <-still yuck 330 6.049 1/8 8.785 mph 93.13 1000 11.055 1/4 12.922 @ 121.88 Run 3, ~17.5psi 60' 2.307 <- blah 330 5.944 1/8 8.677 mph 93.65 1000 10.957 1/4 12.831 @ 121.61 On the third run I was getting slight wheel hop at the top of first, it hopped lightly once or twice so I called it a night after that run, but for the most part the track was solid and sticky. I know I need the driver mod yet, but after seeing 3 cars break stuff I decided there was no reason to push too hard. But I'm happy to see the car's true potential in its trap speeds. It should easily be mid 11's with a much lower 60' time. |

I walked past the Supra. It had stock wheels on it I think. Next time I will watch your run... I was trying to pump a friend up in the pits...

Supras are badda$$, but VERY difficult to get good trap times in the 1/4, with the MT. Great trap speed. The only time i ever got a rin in with AWD in my '04 was against a beauty of a supra, Identical times, both 2.2 60'foot (Ya, i did not lauch, car is a 1.5 60' capable), both had 11.8 at 118. Freaking neat. He was def wheel hoping alot off teh line.

Yea, it has stock wheels on it and street tires. Theyre the only wheels I have for now, so DR's might be my next set of tires, or i need to get a second set of wheels. The supra doesn't seem that difficult to launch to the tune of a 2.0 or 2.1, past that would probably get tricky on street tires, I just need more practice. I was at the track last week and pulled off a 2.17, but I was working the clutch better last week. It seems that it likes to wheel hop if I let it out too fast, so I was experimenting with slow steady clutch engagements and I was just going too slow. mike: I didn't have the methanol turned on this week. I was just trying to see what the car is capable of in "street trim" even though I had about 50/50 of 93/104 octane in the tank. The octane boost REALLY helped out with timing is my guess, because last week with over 3/4 of a tank I trapped high 116's. This week I had less than 2 gallons of gas. Between weight difference and octane is where I gained the extra mph, and I could shift harder b/c of how sticky the track was. Last week I had to ease it into second off throttle because of how bad it was hopping after the shift. Let me know if you guys do go down. I'll go, probably just to watch though, unless the weather is perfect. My traps told me what the car is actually capable of, and thats all I really wanted to know for now. But I could always take video and just hang out, I'm always down for that. Last edited by Whitesupra94; 04-25-2008 at 09:54 AM. |

Whitsupra.. The MT DR 275x40/17 will fit on your oem wheels nicly and as long as your not runing 28lb of boost it works great, I have cut 1.72 with it few years back. You'll love them. |

Nice job Costas, get that Meth spraying and some traction and you should be deep in the 11's.
