KATRINA Aftermath Pics of Jefferson Parish

KATRINA Aftermath Pics

I shot some pics of the mess Katrina made of areas outside of New Orleans, which include Jefferson & St. Charles Parishes, where I used to and currently live.

Here are some more fun-related pics from our stay in Houston during our mandatory evacuation from home in Des Allemands, La:

I hope than any of you and/or your loved ones affected by this terrible tragedy are safe.

Peace,

Curtis

Family caravan; my wife in her LGT followed by me in the STi. So much for having a fast car. We averaged ~40 mph on the trip to Houston. Small price to pay to elude Hurricane Katrina.

How is everything going these days? Looks like the water isn't nearly as bad as NO...

Hey mike,

We were very fortunate in our area. We live 'down the bayou' on the west bank of the Mississippi River, ~30 miles south-west of N.O. Some trees down, light roof damage, but no water damage. That water is a bitch. I say this with some trepadation, but the poor folks on the gulf coast of Mississippi are, in a way, more fortunate than those affected in N.O. and the parishes to the east that still have standing water. On the coast, the water came and went and they can start rebuilding much quicker. N.O. will be undone for a long time to come. Some of the smaller towns and fishing villages east & south-east of N.O. are gone.

Yeah, it looks as though the storm surge was the biggest problem. I love seeing what Mother Nature can do, and sometimes even I am caught off gaurd at the sheer power of our planet. I never thought it was going to be this bad, just another roof tearing hurricane. I guess I wasn't the only one that thought that.

I was talking to a guy at work the other day, and he said that it looked worse than the Tsunami that hit the Pacific rim. I just think that there was more development in NO than some of the islands, but there was a lot more death seeing as there was no where to go for them.

Either way, good luck to everyone affected.
