As some of you may know, I raise/train Service Dogs. The program I raise for is called North Star. It is a program based in CT. They train dogs for Autism Support. I was just putting this out there, that if anyone is interested in raising a puppy, feel free to contact me for information.

They are always looking for more puppy raisers and volunteers. As long as you have some dog experience, I encourage you to look into this North Star pays for all expenses-food, vet, etc. The puppies are typically Golden Retrievers, but they do other breeds as well. The typical training period is 3 months. So, you would get the puppy at 8-12 weeks and keep him/her until they are 4-6 months old. They are usually spayed or neutered while in your care, (which North Star pays for). Your job is to crate train, housebreak, teach basic manners, (sit, come, stay, down, no, leave it, drop it, wait), as well as taking them out in public. Socialization and public exposure is the biggest and IMHO most important job of raising the puppy.

I don't think I'd want to give up the pup after 2-3 months... But I'm in the same apartment situation that won't allow pets.
