Question on a speeding ticket

Sarge,

Today I received a citation for "maximum speed limits". I was allegedly doing 48mph in a 30mph zone. I am not admitting nor declining the rate of speed I was travelling at the time of being clocked.

I was travelling northbound on Rt 378, taking my girlfriends Dad to the airport. It was approximately 4am at the time of the citation, and the roads were deserted.

Below is a quick sketch/map of the area (if you are familiar with the area, it is the top of Rt 378 going into southside Bethlehem.

The area marked "where a speed trap normally is" is right at the top of a steep incline. The road immediately transitions to a steep decline after that intersection.

I know officers sit there, and went through that intersection at around 5 mph over the posted limit. Coming down the steep hill, I was just coasting in 4th gear, using engine braking to keep my speed in check.

The area where the officer was sitting is about .5 miles before the road transitions to one northbound lane, then goes into a densely populated area. I ALWAYS slow down further between where I was clocked and this neighborhood.

Aside from feeling that it isn't the "fairest" to clock somebody in a 30mph zone on a steep decline (it is really hard to keep the car doing 30 down the entire slope), I don't have a defense for my charges.

My question is, what is the best way to go about trying to get a reduced charge (maybe a PA3111A)? I was polite to the officer during my stop, and didn't cause any problems. If I get the full ticket, that is a ton of points. I have a perfect PA record, never had a speeding ticket before, etc, etc. Does any of that help?

Is there any advice you can offer me?

Thank you,

-Brad

Sounds cut and dry to me you will have a hard time with this one. But you can always plead not guilty then try speaking to the DA and plead to a lesser charge.

That's about what I thought. Thank you.
