Next batch of mods for my 07 WRX?

Hello. I currently have a full catless turboback, the car is reflashed by Ray & Turbotek, and has a set of Prodrive springs. After going to the track, I'm craving more power. I would like to pick up at least 5 more MPH on my trap speed (13.5 @ 100)

What would you suggest to give me that little push? My car still has super low mileage, so I really do not want to swap the turbo out. I'm not looking to make really big expensive mods, but just that little UMPH to get the car down the track.

Will a bigger/STi top mount help out THAT much more? Even some sort of rigged track intake through a empty foglight hole?

I will most likely be getting a full tune after I find the right set of mods to hopefully grab that 5 MPH

Unfortunately there isn't much more you can do imho. Opening up the exhaust is really your only option if you aren't interested in swapping the turbo, and you've done that. You could get equal length headers...but i'm doubting that it will net you 5 more mph in trap speed, owners of them could chime in....

Are you worried about warranty issues? Or just looking for options that are 'easily' removed if the car needs warranty service? You could do alchy/meth injection....

As far as your TMIC goes... its fine for the stock turbo for trips down the strip... Its not really a 'power' mod.... I kind of think of upgrading the IC as a way to keep from losing power really, not really get more.

I usually tell people worried about the 'new-ness' of their cars to just wait. Its a commitment thing really. You either have to commit to the modification process and the pitfalls that go with.... or just wait it out till you are 'really' ready.

I'm not really concerned with warranty issues. It is just a challenge I set for myself... if I can't make the power with my goals I'll have to bend a little. Also, with the power from VF39 or so, I'm afraid I'll be replacing transmissions sooner than later

I've seen slips and videos of people running 12.9's with a turboback and a tune, so I would like to try and attempt that.

Also, the car has 22k miles on it, I really don't want to swap out a turbo for one thats been used for even more mileage.

you could get the turbo ported and polished, it'll spool faster for you. Don't know if that will get you what you are looking for but it does make a nice difference.

Pearl, the easiest way to get that 5mph which will almost drop your et a full second.. a turbo upgrade is the only way its going to happen

Get a front mount, up pipe, methanol injection, fuel pump (run more boost) you could get electric exhuast cutout

A front mount isn't going to help. I'm speaking from personal experience when I say the stock turbo is way too small for a FMIC.

I'd recommend alcohol injection and an aggressive tune to go with it.

There's a ton of stuff you could do and still keep the stock turbo, but at that point, why bother?

I was attempting to do the same thing you were. Here is the list of parts I was gonna do to squeeze the most out of the stock turbo.

1) EBAY Topmount - less heatsoak, smoother boost response, not really gonna get you any hp.
2) Headers - Gain some top end, 5-10hp. Meh...
3) External waste gate dumped to atmosphere. Should be good for around 20hp, decreases spool up time, creates rock solid boost control. Downsides: Very expensive, might need new injectors (I did because I'm 2.0) and fuel pump, and your gonna need a retune.

Then while your installing everything for the waste gate your gonna be sitting there thinking "all I need now is a turbo".

ok heres what i think you should do. first, save some cash for gears or an STi transmission. (its going to break, your not immune). as far as power without swapping the turbo, you need a real dyno tune. may i suggest Open Source with John at Precision Tuning in Lakewood NJ. the guy is a mad scientist. also you can get yourself an up-pipe. that will definately help you spool alot faster. Dont worry about getting a top mount, you definately dont need it yet. DO NOT get an intake untill you have a new turbo and get it tuned. just my 2 cents.

Don't need uppipe... 06+ wrx's do not have a catted uppipe anymore so the gains in hp and spool are diminished compared to pre 06 wrx's.

I agree with the tranny comment lol. For tuning though I would go with Andy at Verocious.
