12" subwoofer enclosure

Not sure if this should be in here, general chat, or OT...but im just curious if anyone knows of a source i could use to build my own subwoofer enclosure. I would like to build my own rather than buy one. I need a 12" enclosure. Ive never tried this on my own so i was wondering if there was something like a kit or something similar to it. If not, can someone point me in the right direction with maybe a website i could follow? I did a quick search before work and didnt find much but im going to look a little harder now. Thanks!

Build it first with duct tape and cardboard. Then measure each side, and cut it out of the wood. Put it together like a puzzle, be very generous with the wood glue. Its really not that difficult... kinda time consuming though.

go to home depot and buy some glue screws and mdf i think 1/2 in would do then the carpet to cover it should be available at a fabric store but its really depends on the sub your putting in most company have the specs of the box you should use on the box or u can go to the website

Yeah 3/4 is the best. If you only need a box (like a perfect square or rectangle )it will be cheaper to just buy one, trust me. If you need a custom shape then build away.

yeah i agree it would be cheaper to buy it then build it. i made a few myself and just followed what the spec's where for that sub at the time. i used 3/4 in mdf, wood glue and silicone to seal the box. but yeah buy one its much cheaper

if u want to build it do like others said and design carefully- cardboard doesn't account for thickness of wood.

either way when you're done have home depot cut it all for you and slip them a 5
